Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sam situation as CPJ, two way contract. 27 year old rookie who went undrafted in 2018, 5 years later he found his way to the league.

Listed as a center at 6'9 245lbs. with a stupid standing reach?

Probably can play center better than Wade, but how much better? And why would Portland trade him, on a 500k contract and getting minutes? Will have to convert him at some time, but it will only be a rookie contract. What do we give up to get him? Worth more than a 2nd probably, not worth a 1st though and we dont have one to trade.

I applaud you for the deep roster dive though. I say go with what we have, bring in Bismack on a vet min after the deadline and call it a day.

Isn't Tristan also 6'9?

I'd love Reath on this squad because he can actually stretch the floor.

Not at all - we’re definitely hurt in the regular season as only one team has tried hacking him so far that I recall. I’m saying stakes are higher in the playoffs and what works in the regular season may not work in the playoffs (Captain Obvious shit there). Our reserves can shoot the lights out and I’m not convinced even playoff defenses can shut that down. If it’s a choice between giving Merrill, Niang, Mitchell or Garland a chance to unload a three or hacking Thompson there’s no way in a close game an opposing coach doesn’t send TT to the line.

The dude has already fed Chick-Fil-A to the people in Philly and Orlando with his awful FT shooting. I called that at Wells Fargo arena went he went to the line.

So if we’re going to play him in playoff games I agree - play him early. We don’t want the man Ben Simmonsing the team.

The proof of what works in the regular season doesn't work in the playoffs is easily shown with examples from the last two seasons. Great regular season runs followed by ass execution in the play in and playoffs.

Yes he is, Tristan is a bit heavier and has a good standing reach for a center, but my research says Reath has a bigger one.

Never watched the kid play, on a 2-way contract, but i dont think a 2nd gets him at this point. He is 27, but why would Portland just give us Reath, and does he play ahead of Wade or NIang or even Jones, obviously he can actually play center, but not sure what his defense is like.

I know he's old AF but I'd like to give Dedmon a shot. He's got a jumper, can block and rebound. He's probably not the guy to put his body on the line to save a ball so might lack in the riling up the crowd aspect the way Tristan does.

Low key I think Derrick Favours could be a decent option. But Biyambo definitely is a one to one if we're replacing Tristan. Those are the three I think who could provide some strength and won't get dominated in the paint.

The thing that sucks here is that I was all for bringing back Tristan next year, but the team can't do that now. He likely can't play without the juice. It's not really something you want around the guys either

Something happened with Dedmon's shooting ability as he aged. It's been on the decline since 2019. His 3pt% plummeted and he started taking less of them. His free throw percentage has also been trending down in that same time. I think he's washed.

My issue with Dedmon even when younger, he wasnt a good defender and played with no passion, i dont think he plays ahead of Jones, Favors could be interestig on a couple of 10 day contracts if he wants to play.

Totally fair on Dedmon. I was looking at the free agents available. If Kai Jones wasn't a headcase, he'd be interesting too. But I do think people are putting so much stake on what Tristan brought to the table. We lost games with him, we won games with him. I was just as happy as everyone else to see him get some minutes and actually performing. But with what he did, as someone above said... That's not good for the team to be around. And there are players who can do exactly what he does. Only difference is they don't have the history in Cleveland. Reading people act like he's the reason we're winning just makes me laugh. I've pretty much watched every game this season. Only twice have I felt like something he did was momentum swinging. And it was off an offensive board. Which is what we need because Mobley is terrible on that front and Allen is inconsistent. If we find someone who goes out of their way to look for offensive boards and has a good center of gravity, we're golden. What's Myers Leonard up to these days?

I think TT's husle is contagious and he broughht a great off court presense, those will be missed. His hussle led to offensive rebounds and his offcourt was great leadership.

He will be back in time for the playoffs...that is good....and on court the closest is Bismack as i keep saying. He was a very poor man's Jarrett with a leadership quality which worked perfect. We can replace most of his oncourt, but his leadership will be missed. Hopefully it stuck enough for him to pick up his leadership when he gets back.

This is a little bad news but happening at a great time. Give Pete Nance some time at the bottom of the rotation. Then slip in Isaiah for a week. By the time our young prospects wear out their welcome, the trade deadline is around the corner.
No chance in hell JBB does this.

Who is our enforcer now…Niang? lol. TT is very useful in certain situations. I disagree with those who think he’s done with the Cavs.

TT can't come back soon enough. Our bigs forgot how to be physical since he's been gone.
