Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The beauty of it is that he is already a decent passer so the transition might be even shorter. seriously, that mid-range shot is going to completely change the kind of player Tristan is.

Thompson's most underrated part of his game is his ability to put the ball on the floor.

He's got a good to great dribble drive game.

The best thing about Tristan's game tonight is everything he did was within the flow of the offense. He wasn't forcing anything. Add in the defensive intensity he showed throughout all 4 quarters as well as the fantastic rebounding we've come to expect of him, and he ended up being the best player on the floor tonight.

His defense in the P&R is exceptional. His quickness and length really causes problems for the ball handler and disrupts the offense. He provides a lot on both ends of the floor now and is quickly becoming our 2nd best player with his ever developing offensive repertoire.

Yes ..and that's what isn't getting talked about with the emerging offensive game, is that his already very good defensive game will only be becoming more rounded, more effective, and more disciplined with Mike Brown developing him in the same manner he developed Lebron and Varejao.

Yep, that really stuck out to me tonight too. How fast Tristan can run out to the perimeter on those hard shows is really incredible and will become an invaluable asset to this defense going forward.

It changes everything if Tristan can consistently knock down that mid range shot. Not only for him but for the whole Cavs offense. Love to see him knocking those shots down tonight. Was a weakness that effected who he could play with and the offensive execution. Now those might no longer be issues and will open up more options both for the offense and for how the Cavs continue to build this team going forward.

Its funny to think back a year or two when 60% of the board was calling for grants head for skipping out on Jonas Valančiūnas

It is just another example of hindsight being 20 /20... we need to trust in our execs and what they see, you never know for sure but calling for a guy to be fired after reading a few articles and watching a youtube clip of a player is downright silly. The guy gets paid to spend hundreds of hours scouting each player.

I feel like we are all Tristan's dad and we are watching him grow up faster than anyone anticipated and it brings tons of joy to all of us here...such an astromical ascend in his skill set

Once TT acclimated to the league, he's always played within himself offensively. He just never takes a bad shot. I remember an instance today where he backed it out of the lane rather than fighting up something crazy. He's such a instinctively smart player.

Not to be understated is the fact that he's a good guy. He's a nice guy who goes out there and busts his butt to get the most out of himself. How can you not love a guy like that?

Just think back not so long ago, when he was getting his shots blocked at an almost alarming rate.. my how fast things can change.

Wine and Gold, Of all the players on the Cavs, Would you say that Tristan has the greatest drive to want to be great? in terms of work ethic and attitude and motivation...just curious because I get that vibe from him

I'm totally sold on TT now. He looks so much more comfortable on the floor. Switching shooting hands was a genius decision and he has proven that he is willing to work to get better.

Yeah I just can't think of a case for Valenciunas, other than that he's bigger.

Honestly, he's pulling away from him in that comparison.

He isn't a gambler on D, but if he was, then he'd have a lot of blocks, since he showed that ability at Texas. Make the shot consistently, become a top notch passer, protect the rim better and he's nearly a 20-10 guy
