Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The question is, is there room for TT and AB? We need to improve our defense around the rim. So, where do the minutes come for both TT and AB if we get a better defensive big?

TT would have to get backup minutes at the PF and C position

I completely feel that TT and AB can co-exist. As we saw yesterday, having TT play a bit of the 5 can be a good thing as he is a hustle guy who will make the opposing big work. Varejao should get a bit of a lighter workload when he returns (say 25-30 minutes per night as opposed to 34-37). Sims played 18 minutes last night, so those minutes instantly go to Andy. Take away a few minutes from Zeller (18 last night) and Andy is suddenly close to the minute production he should be getting. Having a TT/AB/AV/TZ frontcourt is good.

If we can get a better 5, then obviously things change, but that would be decided when the time comes.

I am just happy to see everyone performing. TT put up 16 and 13 last night and Bennet 19 and 10. If we can get 35 and 23 from our PFs every night, watch out (I think 30 and 17 is a better number - which is still great).

TT is a walking double double. If he can improve his interior defense and develop some consistency on that jump shot he could be a very good player. TT has shown that he can improve drastically as well. Comparing Tristan during his rookie year to now is light and day.

He is already an elite rebounder. Give him time and I don't doubt that he could become better in other areas of his game as well.

I heard last night that he leads all PF's in offensive rebounding. That is a luxury.

He's an elite rebounder, solid man defender but he has limited range and is also not a great help defender. Feel when I'm watching him he is obviously a solid NBA quality big but he's lacking one extra dimension to make him really stand out

-if he can't hit the jumper, he needs to be able to finish inside. But he's a below average on FG% inside (goes up to slowly and w/o enough power: much better leaper when able to get momentum off two feet)
-needs to be able to protect the rim. He doesn't get a lot of blocks or draw charges
-intangibles: great locker room but lacks the court savvy of a guy like AV.

He's going to be a half empty, half full guy till he adds one extra dimension IMO. His supporters will say he's young, just switched hands, and is also a productive players: they will be correct. His naysayers will say he's not a guy who stands out and should be treated as solid but not spectacular asset: which would also be correct IMO.

You can find a Tristan Thompson in the D-League

Great post. No numbers, no thoughts, just a troll opinion about a 22-year-old double double machine being worthless.

Congratulations Los, you're my first ignore!

TT is a valuable piece to have but I do not see the Cavs ever paying him the money he will want

Did you forget a :chuckles: in this post, too?

No but we found Alonzo Gee.....

TT can rebound but a lot of them are off of his own miss. He doesn't block any shots, bad help defense, no offense. If Alonzo Gee had TT's body he would be a menace. TT doesn't show much athleticism and his game is a lot of hustle and empty stats.

You've gotta be trolling now.
You're seriously comparing TT to Gee? Their games don't seem similar to me at all.
When does Gee ever get double-digit rebounds? Since when is Gee known for his motor and hustle?
Gee loves to shoot, TT doesn't.

Please find me an actual D-League player that has come up to the NBA and put up Tristan's stats.

I honestly think he is still growing into his body. He looks very mechanical now at times, but is so much more coordinated than he used to be. I think it is a product of him being confused by his hands. He is going to keep figuring it out and his game will open up. He just needs to make quicker decisions. Another guys who holds and pounds the ball too much.

Agree. And I'm not sure he will ever grow out of that completely. He's more of a hard-worker than a gifted athlete. And that is ok. You need those types on your team.

I don't know why people engage Los on the topics of Thompson and Waiters at this point.
