Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tristan got slightly overpaid but there was no choice . Had to do it.

Now, with the cap going where its going, he goes from slightly overpaid to in-line with what he deserves to be paid.

If he improves,. he will go from properly paid to a great deal.

This was my feeling all along. We knew he was going to get at least slightly overpaid coming into the year because of the LeBron/Paul factor. He's young. He's durable. He didn't turn out to be a guy just putting up empty stats on a shitty team for the last three seasons. His shot has shown some improvement (if marginally at best) but he's an extremely hard worker.

This will be a solid contract come next season. I think he'll continue to improve as a defender. If he can get his FT percentage up around 70% and gain something remotely resembling an offensive game, he's going to be underpaid for what this deal is worth. Given the fact that he's young, in an amazing environment with all the support he needs to improve, and has the work ethic to do so, I see no real reason why he won't.

Where? All I've seen is that he was close to agreeing to that 80 mil contract. Not that he has agreed yet.

I wouldn't worry too much. If its being widely reported, which it was, its a done deal. Probably hasn't been fully agreed on because Tristan is out of the country.

I'm not worried that he'll be back. Just worried that whatever the hang up is turns into the contract being 90 mil when it's all said and done.

Yeah, I don't think that's happening. Too many people had the 80 million dollar agreement. I'm sticking with it not officially agreed upon due to him being out of the country.

Thank you. I appreciate your breakdown.

I just can't fathom how TT is worth 80 million bucks. I love him as a fan favorite, but I see him as a poor mans Andy. This deal is just a head scratch-er.
I think he has more upside than Andy.

I do wonder if he'd got this cash if Love and Kyrie didnt get hurt?

Lets be honest. Towards the end of the regular season he was probably our 6th best player

LeBron
Kyrie
Love
Mozgov
JR
Tristan

Love gets his shoulder dislocated by Kelly. Kyrie is in and out of the lineup. JR bombed the finals. Tristan puts up good numbers.

9 points 11 boards vs. Bulls
12 points 11 boards vs. Hawks
10 points 13 boards vs. Warriors

The interesting thing is he sort of was positioned on the floor where Kevin Love should have been for the most part. Allowing him to crash the boards and work from the elbow.

If he's getting closer to 90 mil I would probably be upset......if I didnt see guys like Carroll getting 15 mil a year and Johnson getting 12 mil. The way contracts are done is just totally different. So we have to get use to it.

As I've stated before lets just hope he continues to improve.

I'll feel really let down if Draymond Green hits the open market and doesn't get an offer worth more than Tristan just got. It'll signal just how much we overpaid. I get that, in all likelihood, we had to overpay to appease LeBron so it's not a management mistake, but still it'll kind of hurt.

My god, you'd think posters on this board were paying this dudes salary...never understood why FANS complain about salaries in professional sports.

Shit, can't we all just be happy that a core that went 33-3 after the trades when all healthy is back and signed long-term?

Because a salary cap exists. Bigger the salary the harder it is to make moves later on if the need for it arises.

Otherwise Dan Gilbert might as well pay Delly 15 million a year, makes no difference to me.

Having a few million more in TT then he's worth will do nothing to change the moves we can make later on, not with the salary we will have anyway.
