The only thing that is keeping the Cavs from upgrading him is the salary cap. He is irreplaceable because of the cap and not because of his talent. If the Cavs had salary cap room they would have signed a better talent and lesser price.I'm still amazed that people think what Tristan gives us is "easily replaceable"...especially after what we saw him do in the playoffs with K Love out...maybe by 2 players his production can be replaced, but there aren't many individual players in the league who can do what he can, and they certainly aren't available for us to replace him with.
It may not do anything now but those few million may be crucial down the road if we need to make a move especially since he more than likely won't be living up to that contractYeah...what is an extra few million off of his salary going to do, if anything? We're so far over the cap already our options are limited and any young player locked up to a multi-year deal is considered a valuable trade asset.
So, again...why are FANS complaining about how much Dan Gilbert is paying this guy.
I would tell him, we will match any offer you get, and add 10%, Good Luck.
4 offensive rebounds a game arent worth 90 million dollars. And the reason he's able to get so many on the offensive glass is because no one bothers to put a man on him on offense since he's subpar in the post. No man guarding you = no one to box out.
Lebron says no.Is TT restricted agent? If that's the case then wouldn't we rather wait until he gets offers from other teams?

This is exactly why everyone is annoyed with how high his offer reportedly has been. Problem is that he is represented by Lebron's agent, thus the general consensus is that we need to keep LeBron happy and "take care" of TT.Is TT restricted agent? Sooooo your claim is those guys are paid those numbers because of their offensive rebounds? You sure about that?Am I the only one who remembers the Chicago and Atlanta series', where Tristan was doubled at times just so he wouldn't kill them on the offensive glass, yet still grabbed offensive boards...
I guess this doesn't fit what you are trying to sell though...
Also, players who grabbed 3+ offensive rebounds last season: DeAndre Jordan (soon to be max), Tyson Chandler (13 mil avg this offseason), Rudy Gobert (will be getting paid), Andre Drummond (should get the max), Zach Randolph (16.5 million last season), Nikola Vucevic (13.5 mil average extension), Greg Monroe (just signed a max deal), Kanter (about to get paid), Cousins (max player), Faried (12.5 mil average extension), Noah (12 mil average extension), Whiteside (would have gotten the max if a FA this year), Asik (12 mil avg extension this offseason)...
You sure players who grab offensive rebounds aren't that expensive?

Everyone of those players either is an elite rim protector or has a great offensive game on top of being a good offensive rebounder.. Faried is probably the closest comparison to Thompson and he is way better offensively and guarding guys on the perimeter.
