so lue is the highest paid assistant head coach in the league, and in charge of the cavs defense. i know blatt gets a whole lot of flack for this team not being nearly as successful as a lot of people thought, but right now the cavs are 18th in points given up per game, and 29th in opponents field goal percentage.

at what point does this teams short comings start to fall on the defensive coach?

Seriously this is what I'm wondering, this is some of worse defense I've ever seen.

It's both Blatt and Lou. Blatt is the face of the coaching staff though. If he sees something wrong, he needs to speak up. The lack of chemistry isn't just on the floor, it's on the bench as well. You're putting a circle peg into a square opening. Either find a piece that fits, or shave off the circle into a square (reorganize the staff).

1 - when is the last time a candidate finished 2nd in the process was asked to help another NBA rookie head coach he just lost the job to?
- makes zero sense at all...

2 - I'm very sick of watching him on the sidelines - if he is undermining Blatt in public what's he is doing in private?

3 - I really think Blatt is just being nice and letting it happen - which is on Blatt ..

4 - Lue needs to understand the chain of command, step back and let Blatt ( one of the greatest basketball minds in the world do his thing)

Lebron has some deep connections to Lue. Not gonna happen even if it is the right thing to do.

Plus to pay him highest salary in the league for an assistant just to please lebron is a joke as well

The cavs almost created a scenario of 2 head coaches. The players are hearing 2 voices

this organization is a mess. nothing has changed since the last time Lebron was here. from the ownership on down it's nothing but incompetence, egos, and unprofessional behavior. there is no hope for this franchise when that type of culture is allowed to exist. no championship is coming to Cleveland with Gilbert in charge.

seems like with each new "regime" it's always the same with players clashing with coaches and everyone fighting behind the scenes. it's a total mess. there needs to be structure and clear roles. players need to respect the ownership, GM, and coach…but it seems like in the Cavs organization, a toxic culture is allowed to exist that makes that impossible. We have no shot at a championship as long as that culture exists, and a lot of it seems to come from Gilbert and his decisions. Gilbert ain't selling the team any time soon, so I'd say we're pretty much doomed as a franchise.

Understandable only IF he wasnt hired on June 23rd, well before Decision 2.0

Lulz.

I'm not sure if this thread is made to crack a few laughs or not, but I've never seen someone demanding the 'assistant' coach to be fired.

Starts at the top playboy. Your boy Blatt will be gone first before anyone else, and rightfully so.

Your comment has me chuckling so it must be that kind of a thread..if it starts at the top then Gilbert is the one..he hired all these people.

It's often been said - defense is about effort. The question, to me, is whether the Cavs have given less then maximum effort (duh) in a sort of "revolt" against a coach they don't believe in.

Defense is how it shows up, but ultimately not the cause. It's the effect.

It does start at the top. But when assistants are going behind the back of the head coach, calling time outs and undermining the head coach, they deserve to be fired too.

Well it makes it look like the HC not only doesn't know what he's doing but Lue has a better handle on things .It looks exactly like it appears..blatantly going over the HC's head.

Neither of them have a good handle on things.

If the team was listening to Lue, one would assume they would stick to his defensive principals. Instead, they are looking awful on both sides.

Get rid of them both. And Larry Drew, just for good measure that the rats are all off the ship. Well, all the rats except LeBron.
