Urban Meyer hired by OSU

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing new has popped up, so it looks like just internet smoke with no fire.

Saw this on 247, thought I would share for those interested in our future recruiting endeavors.

Four-star DB Christopher Bivins, Gainesville (USF commit): “I feel like he wanted out of UF to begin with. He never wanted to stop coaching but he needed a reason to go somewhere else. I wish him the best at Ohio State, and I’d definitely consider the program if they contacted me. It’s a great program and now a great coach to go with it.”

Three-star ATH Demeitre Brim, Lakeland Victory Christian (Virginia commit): “Coach Meyer is a big-time coach going to a big-time program. There’s little doubt something positive will happen there quickly. If Ohio State reached out to me I would definitely consider them now that he’s there.”

ESPNU Watch List WR Jordan Cunningham, Davie University School: “I would consider Ohio State. I am considering a lot of schools.”

ESPNU Watch List WR Ahmad Fulwood, Jacksonville Bishop Kenny: “I would definitely consider OSU now that Coach Meyer is there, but my interest level would really depend on what kind of offense he was going to install.”

ESPNU Watch List RB Adam Lane, Winter Haven: “I would say that it is a great school and a great fit for him because he grew up there. If I were to get an offer from Ohio State it would be a great opportunity to learn from a coach who knows how to win.”

Class of 2013 ATH William Likely, Glades Central: “I would love to see what Ohio State looks like in the near future.”

ESPNU Watch List CB Sojourn Shelton, Plantation (FSU commit): “Yes I would consider Ohio State. My best friend goes there and Coach Meyer is just really a great addition to the program. I am very interested to see what he does in his first year.”

Class of 2013 DB Damonte Jones, Ocala St. John Lutheran: “Yes I would consider Ohio State in my recruitment. Coach Urban Meyer is a real good coach and he has had a lot of success.”

Class of 2013 DB Jamonte Jones, Ocala St. John Lutheran: “Heck yeah, Coach Meyer is great!”

Class of 2013 WR Anthony Lauro, Bradenton Manatee (via his father): “I did talk to [Anthony] about it, he said he would like Coach Meyer’s offense and would definitely like to consider Ohio State. Our whole family is from there.”

Class of 2013 DB Austin Logan, Tallahassee Florida High: “I like Coach Meyer because he’s a winner. He has won wherever he goes and he’s a great recruiter.”

Class of 2014 RB Sony Michel, Plantation American Heritage: “I think it’s a great move for [Coach Meyer] because it’s his dream job. I’m open to Ohio State like I am to every school right now.”

I have been watching the Under Armour All America Game and Noah Spence has looked really good. He has been getting a good rush pretty consistently and I think he has a couple sacks at least. He has also stripped the ball and made a stop on 4th and Goal from the one. I think he will end up being a great pickup for us.

I have also noticed that it seems there are a few recruits that have committed to Michigan. :thumbdown

Don't know where else to put this

Big weekend in the recruiting world is coming up for us
Official visits for
2012 WR Davonte Neal (Paradise Valley, Arizona), OL Joey O'Connor (Windsor, Colorado), OL Taylor Decker (Vandalia, Ohio) & LB David Perkins (South Bend, Indiana)
&
2013 WR Robert Foster (Monaca, Pennsylvania), OL Logan Tuley-Tillman (Peoria, Illinois), LB E.J. Levenberry (Woodbridge, Virginia)

Decker is a ND soft Verbal but his position coach there is now the OL coach at tOSU & His recruiter is now the RB coach at tOSU. Many seem to think that O'Connor will verbal if given an offer but his downfall is that he is looked as as an OG rather than an OT. Neal should be a Buckeye with this trip sealing the deal. Perkins is a toss up as he wants to get play early and likes the idea of being on the offensive side of the ball (Supposedly) tOSU is recruiting him at OLB.

Also looks like 2 more penn state former recruits might switch to tOSU in LB Cameron Williams & Armani Reeves (they are a potential package deal but either one of them would be a nice addition). They are visiting on the 18th

I fully expect commitments from Neal and Decker by the end of the weekend or shortly thereafter. Both HUGE gets if/when it happens.

As jhard said, O'Connor would commit within seconds of receiving an offer, but with spots limited it's unclear whether Urban wants another interior lineman. Perkins is unlikely, IMO. Seems to fancy himself a RB although he's clearly better suited to play OLB.

Williams is likely to commit next weekend, with Reeves still waiting on an offer. If Urban offers, I'd expect them both to be wearing S&G next year.

Assuming Reeves, Williams, Neal and Decker commit, that'll leave us with 1-3 spots left to fill out the class. Top targets then become OT Kyle Dodson, S Bam Bradley, LB Dalton Santos, LB Jamal Marcus, O'Connor, and ATH Joel Caleb.

Foster is an absolute stud - will be a 5-star, top 15 prospect next year. Haven't seen any tape on the other two '13 guys, but I do know Tuley-Tillman is considered a scUM lean.

Both Rivals and Scout reporting that 4-star OL Taylor Decker, a former Notre Dame pledge, has committed to Ohio State

Oh yes.

ALL YOUR RECRUITS ARE BELONG TO US

@MarcGivlerBG Marc Givler
The commitment of 4* OL #JoeyOConnor puts #OhioState at the No. 3 spot in the http://Rivals.com team recruiting rankings

EDIT: For some perspective, we were #19 when Meyer took over. Beast mode.

I'm running out of hyperbole to describe this.

Im so happy right now. Urban is the man.

I check this thread every now and then just for updates from jjjuice11. Thanks for the updated info.

Now we just need one of Dodson / Diamond to make the plunge.
1 of those plus Bradley, Williams & Reeves & I am happy.

Still would like to pull in 1 of the other LBs with offers (Perkins, Santos or Marcus)

But I think we would need 4 more roster spots to open up if we were to add 5....That means Berry & Hagan are gone for sure...No clue who makes up the other spots though

I'd like to close with Dodson, Williams, Reeves, Marcus, Perkins, and Neal

Of those 6 names, I feel incredibly confident about 1 (Williams), pretty confident about 2 (Dodson and Reeves), and unsure about the other 3 (Marcus, Perkins and Neal). I also think we could see a sleeper type prospect work his way into the class.

Also, expect Trotwood-Madison corner Cam Burrows give his commitment to OSU on Thursday and become the first recruit in the 2013 class. Kid is considered to be one of the 2 best players in the state and has already been named a 5-star recruit by Rivals. 6'2" with 4.45 speed and incredibly fluid hips.
