Then what if JJ works out and becomes a really good player. AK47 nor JJ can play center....... I dont know this is tough...

Then what about Sasha Kaun whose gonna be a beast defensively when he comes over here in 2010.....;):chuckles:

I dont understand what Kirilenko has that will benefit us. We need a PF/C, there is no question about that. However, is Kirilenko a guy that can post up and defend the likes of KG, Elton Brand, Pau Gasol, Amare Stoudemire, etc...

I dont see it. I think if AV got around 33 minutes or so, he could average 10 and 12 for us and draw some charges, get steals, and play good defense ( he held KG to 1-7 shooting in the fourth quarter). Last year in the playoff's AV did a great job by fronting KG most of the time but Joe Smith was constantly burned.

If Kirilenko had Elton Brand's post up game, I would be all for it. But I just dont think that is a good idea.

AK-47 doesn't have Elton Brand's post game. He isn't a superb scoring threat like he used to be when the offense focused on him. And he's not dangerous in any particular area, despite being well balanced.

He's actually a little bit of almost everything. I don't see him doing 15, 8, 3, 3, 3 like he used to, because the offense doesn't run through him. But he's finally accepted being what he truly excels at: a superb role player, and one of the best in the league. Offensively he can do a little bit of everything. Run at the fastbreak (cough*Mo*cough*LBJ*cough*run*cough), tip the ball in (Z, anyone), hit the midrange (just like Mighty Joe Young), pick and pop, move all over the place to get layups, dunks, even nail a three, etc.

So he'll clearly be an upgrade to Ben and could hold up better offensively with AV (unless AV starts trying more than a layup-dunk or midrange shot that isn't lethal, yet). Even better with offensive rebound, especially with Z there too. Do you know why AK-47 is so deadly?

His length. His wing-span. He's just as deadly a rebounder as Z. It's the same situation when Ben and Z are both going for rebounds. Opponents have two threats to deal with and can't cheat. Giving us more advantages and ORs.

And defensively, he's proven to be as deadly as Ben. As deadly as AV. Can lives and breathes guarding perimeter guys that try to drive and has "wiry" strength to guard the KGs, Amares, Eltons despite the smaller weight and size, all because of his length and athleticism (just like Ben closer to his prime).

This is a "do-all" sort of guy, but he isn't the offensive monster that VC still is past his prime. It just depends. Wine and Gold said the Cavs might bite on AK and they definitely tried their luck with VC. And that doesn't mention the others that open up where other teams throw in the towel. Sure, Bosh doesn't look too likely, but it's anything-goes in the cut-throat market of the NBA. Looking forward to the entertainment on these boards come February. See ya!

Would we really have to give up Wally plus a 1st?....Why AK47 and not Zach Randolph (i have read all about his attitude issues but as player would he be a better fit? Randolph would certainly be cheaper to get.....might also be able to get David Lee that a number of posters like and may not have to give up Wally?....just curious

Maybe we could trade our offense to at least Utah Jazz? Nothing's gonna change until we have a respectable offense.

Precisely...

What I've been saying for years.. The Cavs need a new offense, and badly.. This ISO LeBron shit is tired and played, every coach has seen it since '06 -- it will never work again. We need an offensive oriented shooting guard to bring a defender out of the key and onto the perimeter to open up lanes for LeBron; or we need an offensive oriented power forward who can get boards and DUNK the ball consistently without worrying about extending his spine. Trading for a player that doesn't fill this criteria will leave us exactly where we are right now.

Point being: Stop thinking in an either-or, defense or offense, mindset. We need a STRONG offensive player who can play SOME defense. Vince Carter would excel here in Cleveland, especially if it was only for Wally's contract; although I don't know how many years are left on his contract. But a Mo/Carter/LeBron/AV/Z lineup (although only for select minutes) would be devastating simply for the fact that you cannot double/triple team LeBron, it would drastically reduce defense traps being set outside the perimeter on our guards, and you can't play zone defense huddled up under the hoop, ala Doc Rivers. By forcing the man-to-man defense, our 3 scoring assets will be far more explosive throughout the game and we'll start to see much higher production out of our lineup -- even defensively.

Vince Carter hands down. This is not even a real debate. Andrei Kirelinko is not really a PF. He just don't have the muscle/beef to man the position as a starter. He's more of a role player. He would be a good player off the bench, but his presence does nothing when you are trying to go up against the elite teams. Give me Vince Carter, Mo', and and Lebron and and all those ESPN top 10 plays will be all cavs plays.

One of the Cavs problems is when Lebron/Mo is on the Bench. I noticed in the Boston game that Mike Brown had Mo' and Lebron out the game at the same time for extended minutes. If he is going to do this then we definetly need a 3 star quality player like VC in that role, than Kirelinkno. VC is much more of a offensive strength than AK47. Those who would take ak47 over VC apparently have not watched any nets game lately. VC still has alot of game left and is easily doing 20, 5, and 5. When Boston had KG and Allen on the bench, they still had Pierce in the game. VC would help alot for this team when Lebron or Mo is on the bench.

Far as 2010? You people are looking way to much into that. With Z and Ben on the decline, the cavs DON'T HAVE UNTIL 2010. We need to win now!!! I think the Cavs have a better chance of keeping Lebron by winning now, versus getting players with contracts that expire by 2010 just to get a player that WE MAY NOT GET!!!

Vince is a whiney, weak goober who puts up good numbers now, but has 3 more years on his contract is probably going to be a burden fairly soon

AK is decent help defender and can score a little on the inside and perimeter...but he is also known to sob and I can't stand that.

Choices, choices.

Both would help our O, but only one would help on both sides of the ball. VC would make LBJ guard the best player every night where as we could start Sasha, put AK on and then LBJ is guarding he lesser of the SG/SF. I'd take VC if we could get him though don't think I wouldn't.

Rather have Gerald Wallace or Michael Redd

I'd take Wallace but Redd isn't going to happen realistically.

I'd take Carter over Redd any day of the week.

Carter is a better defender, but he doesnt always play with heart. Redd is a better shooter which would match up well with Lebron. Both would be good additions.

Gerald Wallace is one body slam away to "stretcher fo' life" yo.

And i'll give it to him if he ****ed up in the playoffs.
