Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why wouldn't deron just run the second unit
Dwill
Korver
Derrick
Frye
Sanders

Seems simple

I feel like Deron needs to be covered for on defense like Kyrie. The lineup of Deron-Liggins-Shump/JR-Lebron-Love worked pretty well the other night, Lue hasn't gone back to it.

At the end of the day, I dont the think Lue needs to be shortening the rotation because there are so many one sided offensive players on this team that need to be offset by defensive players. Tonight he cut Shumps minutes so the rotation only really had JR, Lebron, and RJ as good defenders.

He's being used as a spot up shooter instead of the playmaker they went and got him for. Who's fault is that, Lue. They cried about having another playmaker but put him on floor with the two players on the team who almost always have to have the ball in their hands. Why not let Love run with him and the bench guys. I think we'll see the results everyone envisioned when Griff went out and signed him and of course it just makes more sense than running him with LeBron or Kyrie.
Exactly this

It's so frustrating

The key player he should play with is Love--simply to make Love valuable in the pick and roll/pop game inside the 3point line.

He's so down with "chill mode" , I hate it. That's what I miss about Delly. Sure Deron is better with the ball and in the PnR.

Maybe Bron was having chill.mode one day, but Delly was not. Delly was running screen rolls.and getting lobs up to the basket, not the fastest laterally, but competed hard defensively all the time. If he got a pass and didn't like the shot he would fake, attack.and get the ball side to side again. Deron just flips the ball back to whoever. Just lazy. He was great in the Boston game.tho. attacked a lot. Hopefully that's the playoff guy.

(Deron has shown me he can be physically imposing and tough defensively at the 1....But he's only shown it a few times, the rest of the time he's fitting right in fucking around and letting guys blow by.him.)

It also solves some of the defensive issues that putting Kyrie and Deron on the floor together poises. It's fairly easy to put 3 defensive players in to cover for both Love and Deron without having a real small or odd lineup.

From what I can see Deron Williams is finished. Washed up. Next to useless.

Lue is relying on him way too much, and getting little to no return.

I don't do stats but from the eye test it looks like teams go on big runs against us whenever this guy is on the floor.

Eh, Lue is totally misusing him. The guy would be helpful if he was charged with what he was brought in to do (run the 2nd unit) vs. being relegated to an off-ball shooter.

I simply have no idea how Griffin and Gilbert watch these games and don't have a heart-to-heart with Lue about just how much he's failing to implement bench guys they brought in to help.

Totally with you. He looks lazy as hell to me. It is hard to believe he was considered one of the best pgs in he league at one time. His vision consists of getting the ball to LeBron add he rolls or getting the ball to LeBron on the block. Those are both good things, but really doesn't get the second unit going.

Is take what dwill has given and sub Derrick every time. The defense would and so would spot up shooting.

Easily the most disappointing player this year. I'm really alarmed he is going to play in the playoffs. I just look at him and he has no heart.

What Deron has given to this team is easily replaced by a minimum salary PG. I don't think what Derrick gives the team can be as easily replaced or be found from a minimum salary player. Derrick seems to be the better short and long term bet for this team. I would cut Deron's minutes to purely when Kyrie is off the floor and integrate back in Derrick for the good of the team. Derrick won't resign here if he get zero minutes going forward.

Orlando has already said that they are going after Derrick. I doubt he will stay given how little Lue is playing him and how little Cavs can afford to pay him.

You aren't the first to suggest this ....

“Before I got there, I looked at Deron as an MVP candidate,” Pierce told ESPN.com’s Jackie MacMullan. “But I felt once we got there, that’s not what he wanted to be. He just didn’t want that.

“I think a lot of the pressure got to him sometimes. This was his first time in the national spotlight. The media in Utah is not the same as the media in New York, so that can wear on some people. I think it really affected him.”

“It was just the guys’ attitudes there. It wasn’t like we were surrounded by a bunch of young guys. They were vets who didn’t want to play and didn’t want to practice. I was looking around saying, ‘What’s this?’ Kevin (Garnett) and I had to pick them up every day in practice.

“If me and Kevin weren’t there, that team would have folded up. That team would have packed it in. We kept them going each and every day.”
