Welcome to Cleveland, Tony Fields

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
lol.

Mack Wilson is absolutely gone.

Shut your fucking mouth. Mack Wilson is the greatest cheerleader in Browns history. I have an irrational love for him even though he is a borderline NFL level player.

Dont fucking come at me with this no production on the field. I know this, but that doesnt stop my love for Mack Wilson.

I dont see it on this one, but the issue becomes I trust Berry allot more than I trust myself in evaluating talent. Seems like a 6th round talent at best.

Obviously Berry saw something he liked, maybe interview? Maybe that explosiveness in short yardage? With Linebackers like Takitaki, Wilson and Phillips, I think he might end up on practice squad or knock out a recent pick like Wilson.

I guess I like Mack WIlson so much as a hype man, I hate to see someone that could potentially take his roster spot? lol

I don’t think Takitaki or Mack Wilson should rest particularly easy.

Malcom Smith
Anthony Walker
Jacob Phillips
JOK
Tony Fields

Mack
Sione
Elijah Lee

Lol, i am a mortgage loan officer who just watched my first tape of this guy, never heard of him but came away unimpressed. Berry in his first year as a GM took a team that won its first playoff game since the first Bush was president, lol (actually i think early Clinton, but still)

Yeah, I know more than Berry for sure, just look of my track record of being a mortgage guy. Missing on 5th round picks after we have made 2 4th round picks and picked one up for next year already. How could we ever forgive Berry?

In all honesty probably becomes a probowl LB and I once again prove why i am not a GM, lol

I have no idea about him - he may completely suck. My point was more that the variation between pundits' board and the 30 team boards around the league is enough so that relying on pundits to say who will or won't be there is flawed. I think a team that bypasses their BPA because of a belief that he'll still be there next round would be making a mistake.

Takitaki behind Mack? Not sure I agree if we arent joking.

I loved what I saw from Jacob Phillips. Anthony Walker signed a 1 year deal worth only 3 million. Between 1 and 2 LB sets, Jok and Phillips absolutely being starter level LB's, I doubt Walker is a long term piece, I am not even convinced we carry 6 LB's on our active roster so many borderline of our LB's are in trouble.

Honestly Mack AND Takitaki both might be cut, but if it happens, just give me some space, we all know it will hurt if we cut my mancrush or should I say Mackcrush.

I knew exactly what you meant, and you are 100% correct. My quick opinion a bit of a reach. What does that mean? Probably a hall of famer, lol.

Fields should help us cover TE’s which we desperately needed last year. I’m okay if he’s a solid backup/situational guy and core special teamer. Good teams need quality depth.

If either of our new LBs can eliminate the huge open areas I got used to seeing in the middle of the field when Mack and Taki were playing, let me be the first one to say "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" to either or both.

With the 132nd pick in the 2021 RCF Mock Draft, the CLEVELAND BROWNS select:

Tony Fields II, LB, West Virginia

  • Height: 6’0 1/4″
  • Weight: 222 pounds
  • Wingspan: 76″
  • Arm: 30 3/4″
  • Hand: 9″

STRENGTHS: Rangy athlete with the speed to make plays at either sideline…quick to process and key versus the run…uses his agility to slither around blocks and find the ball carrier…relies on timing and physicality to strike and shed versus blockers…calms his feet well in space to break down as a tackler…flexible hips and lower body to cleanly change directions…very active in zone coverage, sensing throwing lanes and forcing quarterbacks to go elsewhere…quickly established himself as a team leader and tone-setter once he arrived at West Virginia, according to the coaches…durable and tough, playing through minor injuries and making 45 career starts…highly productive with at least 88 tackles in each of his four collegiate seasons.

WEAKNESSES: Smallish frame and doesn’t have prototypical length or growth potential…struggles to leverage gaps versus blockers and can be eaten up near the line of scrimmage…needs to stay disciplined with his run fits and hold contain…inconsistent finishing strength when his tackling technique isn’t perfect…needs to avoid the mental mistakes (two targeting fouls and a horse collar penalty on three of the 2020 tapes studied)…it is tough for him to work off contact mid-pursuit…will occasionally get too relaxed with his coverage reps, finding himself lost in space.

SUMMARY: A one-year starter at West Virginia, Fields lined up as the middle linebacker in the Mountaineers' 3-3-5 base scheme, previously lining up as a weakside linebacker during his three seasons in Arizona. He was one of the most impactful free-agent signings in college football last offseason, making all the defensive sets and calls for the Mountaineers and averaging 9.8 tackles per game as a senior. With his natural feel for the game, Fields is quick to diagnose and go with the athleticism and toughness to make plays in the backfield or downfield. A better run-around defender than take-on player, it can be tough for him to operate near the line of scrimmage because of his lack of size. Overall, Fields can be too easily engulfed when he isn’t a step ahead of the play, but he is an instinctive player with above-average play speed to be a rangy run-and-hit weakside linebacker in the NFL.

The Browns need help at LB, and this is the type of spot where the Browns see value in drafting one. The team has interest in Fields, so I am slotting him here. Although undersized, his speed and instincts should play well in today's NFL. This may have been the Browns' 5th round selection, but they like him, so they take him at the end of the 4th.

The NO Saints and @Stark are on the clock.
Nailed it! lol

He has short burst speed, but not sure if he is fast enough to cover faster tight ends.

That said, know who is fast enough? JOK and any of the 87 DB's we added through the offseason, draft or getting healthy.

Brugler's Scouting Report: #14 LB

14. TONY FIELDS II | West Virginia 6002 | 222 lbs. | SR. Las Vegas, Nev. (Desert Pines) 6/18/1999 (age 21.86) #1

BACKGROUND: Tony Fields II grew up in the Las Vegas suburbs and attended Desert Pines High School, where he was a three-sport letterman in baseball, basketball and football. A linebacker on defense and wide receiver on offense, he earned All-Conference and All-City honors as a sophomore, junior and senior, also picking up First Team All-State honors as a senior. After posting 93 tackles and two interceptions as a junior, Fields recorded 110 tackles as a senior captain, leading Desert Pines to the 2016 3A state championship (Fields finished with 148 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the title game).

A three-star recruit out of high school, Fields was the No. 44-ranked athlete in the 2017 recruiting class and the No. 8 recruit in Nevada. He collected more than a dozen scholarship offers, choosing Arizona over Boise State, BYU, Missouri and others. After enrolling early in January 2017, he started three seasons for the Wildcats and graduated with his degree in literacy, learning and leadership, entering the transfer portal after his junior season. For his final season of eligibility, Fields committed to West Virginia over Minnesota and Texas, rejoining Mountaineers co-defensive coordinator Jahmile Addae, who recruited him to Arizona out of high school. Fields accepted his invitation to the Senior Bowl, earning top linebacker honors on the National team.

Lee, life is full of pain.....just saying you should probably get ready.

Fields looks a lot like Malcolm Smith on the field.

And he thrives being a QB spy. Could be invaluable putting he and JOK on the field against the Ravens.
2 rookies, one a later round pick against Lamar? No way, we will use Dimes and Nickels even more against the Ravens.

I thought Takitaki started playing well. Walker and JOK will be locks and I don't like any of our other LBs better than Takitaki right now. Need to see more of Phillips.
