What are the Cavs going to do at C?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My biggest qualm with the Andy/Ben comparison is that Ben Wallace was a shell of himself in Cleveland. He had stretches where he had absolutely no lift, to the point where he bricked wide open dunks. Add to that, Ben was seemingly allergic to the thought of working on his offensive game.... short of taking seated shots from the sidelines during warm ups.

All true, and yet he still out-Andy'd Andy when it came to being a difference maker on D, grabbing boards, making hustle plays, setting screens, trapping guards before they even brought the ball up the court, etc.

But you're right, Andy+TT would be an entirely different sort of fit.

The only thing I was trying to examine was whether there was another way to solve the problem that doesn't end up with Andy or TT shooting 18 ft jumpers.

Lastly...

Kenyon Martin would make Tristan Thompson pee down his leg.

You just cant replicate the tough guy intangibles that guys like Oakley, Mourning, Martin all developed while fighting for their lives in bad neighborhoods and all through tough city public schools.

You REALLY cant replicate that with a Canadian Prep School Softie

Nice try

I watched Kenyon Martin many times while in college before that last ACL injury. He controlled games in a similar manner to Alonzo Mourning. He controlled a game with his will and attitude while at Cincy. When Huggy would get a big lead, he even allowed the offense to be initiated by Kenyon at the top of the key sometimes, to show off his versatility. Kenyon Martin was MEAN, and he had/has the same nerve condition that Mahmoud Abdoul Rauf has, but he used to use it to his advantage in intimidating opponents. I used to think he was going to just STUMP opposing big men, right there on the court. I used to fear for the rim when watching Kenyon Martin. (dont cite me for not looking up the nerve condition thing, Im at work and typing this fast)

I think Tristan THompson relates much better to Shelden Williams skill set.

They had practically the exact same stats collegiately while playing in the exact same position/body frame/reach advantage. When looking at Shelden Williams Sophomore season, where he got the minutes Tristan got, while at the same age that Tristan was last season, the numbers are so comparable that it is scary.

Lets be fair Rch - I set him up by asking for a role on Scott's teams that Thompson could fill. I completely agree on the rest though, Martin was intimidating as hell, stats be damned.

So strange... I'm thinking back and realizing that between all three of those guys, there was only one championship ring... and that was when Zo was putting in ten minutes a game as Shaq's backup. Rodman managed to cross-dress his way to five.

Because Jonas is going to intimidate people from driving on him right? Like I said in the last thread, TT will be a defensive anchor before Jonas ever will. As skilled as he is, the man gets pushed around by non-atheltic Korean players. Odds are he is your typical pussy Euro before he is Sabonis or Divac

Aside from playing grab ass with X every once in awhile, you guys wont read anymore Jonas type fron me. Im moving on to my team now.

Sure, I have a Chris Grant dartboard being custom made now, but im through bashing his excellence here. Now... Back to Tristan KMart Thompson

Kenyon Martin would make Tristan Thompson pee down his leg.

I remember when Kenyon Martin tried to make the Cavs piss down their pants when we kicked NJ out of the playoffs. I laughed and laughed as he got tossed out of the game and looked like a pathetic thug that only hurt his own team.

K-Mart on the Nuggets used to has his way with us. Than again, so did most guys wearing Nuggets jerseys. Iverson and J.R. Smith especially were big pains in the asses.

It was a few pages back, but in regard to the Summer League... Nate Robinson had his summer league number retired. That should tell you all you need to know about the VSL.

Joakim Noah went to prep school, yet I doubt many in the league consider him soft.

If we had such a deal in place, why didn't we just pull the trigger? Jonas or no Jonas?

Because we only do the deal IF Jonas is on the board, Jonas was gone so no deal, looks like the Cavs are hoping to find a player in a deeper draft with the Kings pick that they received for JJ.

I'm still shocked some team gave a 1st for Hickson. Protected or not, Hickson isn't a winning player.
