Why? What if they bring in someone better? Before you ask me who, I'm not going to answer that. That's Banner's job.

Yeah - that's a quite the IF considering how many players, starters, he's drafted for us now. Not too mention he didn't even get a change to play with that big check beck of Haslam's.

Considering all the failures of GMs we put in place before this guy, especially when we are talking draft, I'm not confident they will find better. Happy hunting Banner.

I'll just be happy that Sunday is the last time I have to watch Shurmur's atrocious play-calling in a Cleveland football game.

Let a whole new era of horrible play-calling begin!

Your next Super Bowl winners folks. Absolutely convinced of it.

Whatever team they land on. Super Bowl.

I like Heckert & think it's a huge mistake to let him go, but they couldn't do it together in Philly for years, so I wouldn't jump to this conclusion quite yet.

I blame that on McNabb choking under the pressure and puking.

Otherwise, they already have one. And as Browns lore goes, as soon as great coaches/teams/whatever leave, they win.

So yeah, history suggests that Heckert and Reid end up winning a SB while the Browns fuck up getting the #1 pick for the umpteenth million time.

I'm usually one to be optimistic, but I don't like where this is going. Tom Heckert did a fine job in his short time in Cleveland, I'd wish him luck but I don't think he'll need it. He will probably have at least 3 job offers before the new year hits.

I think he sealed his fate when he didn't do everything in his power to go and get RGIII. If we had Griffin at QB instead of Weeden, I think he definitely keeps his job. I blame Brandon Weeden for this.:chuckles:

MKC on GM candidates

PITTSBURGH -- With the Browns set to fire coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert by Monday, here's a short list of some GM candidates the Browns are likeley to interview: the Falcons' David Caldwell, the Bills' Doug Whaley, the Chiefs' Ray Farmer, the Cardinals' Steve Keim and Jason Licht, and the Seahawks' John Idzik.

Kansas City GM Scott Pioli might also be let go, and he'd be an intriguing prospect for the Browns. He loved his Cleveland days, and interviewed here with Randy Lerner for the president's pos.
Former Browns personnel executive and current NFL Network analyst Mike Lombardi is also on the radar.
Heckert is expected to be hired soon by a team with a GM opening. There could be a dozen or more openings.
In other Browns news, the team has hired Brent Stehlik as executive vice president/chief revenue officer, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's a Cleveland native and Mount Union grad.

:yay:

What Lombardi is saying is that he hasn't been contacted directly by the Browns (i.e. Banner or Haslam) but there's no doubt been indirect contact between the two through third party people...

It's the same thing with any of these guys like Kelly or Saban... They may have not had direct contact with the Browns but they're more than aware of the Browns intentions and interest and have been made aware of such...

I think its worth mentioning that the Julio Jones trade was a huge blow for Heckert. When you lay out the players we got in return for Jones... it looks bad.

An above average, young starting WR and an above average DT?

Weeden sucks and all, but Julio Jones is still just a WR, a position Cleveland looks pretty decent at.

Thats being mighty generous to qualify Little as above average. An above average DT and Little or a stud WR making the pro bowl in his second year?
