Who is the Browns' General Manager for the 2013 off-season?

Take it for what it's worth, but 92.3 was running a rumor that Mike Lombardi is going to be the next GM of the Browns today before the game.

First thing. This would be a horrible move. Someone please tell me when Lombardi was dead-on accurate with anything...

Second, I thought this rumor had run its course already. I remember this being brought up in this forum, then being shot-down. Don't feel like grave digging to get it, but it is just my thought..

I have a feeling that Haslam won't be all for change just to get people who will appease Banner's "I want it all" attitude. How much more does Heckert need to do in order to be respected by Banner?

On a side note, Josh Gordon looks like an absolute #1 receiver on this team.

Interesting.

@DustinFox37: . @Hub_Arkush again just now on @BullandFox confirmed that according to his sources, Michael Lombardi is the #1 candidate to be #Browns GM.

Well if Lombardi is the new GM then I fully change my opinion of not wanting Banner controlling everything. I'd rather have him making picks than Lombardi.

This makes one laugh and cry at the same time.

typical we actually have a guy who has FINALLY hit on some draft picks so lets can him.

To be fair Lombardi may have just been a puppet for Al Davis. I also can't name a reason why anyone would want him either.

At least we have a pretty solid core already. Banner will be good in making sure we can keep all our young talent. But Heckert has a great track record. Haden, Ward, Taylor, Sheard, Richardson, Gordon, Pinkston, Little, Schwartz and even Hardesty has looked good this year. If we turn into a winner I will always give credit to Heckert. Our defense will be nasty if we can add another great CB. I think people forget how well Gocong played last year too.

i'm a big Heckert supporter but i get that Haslam would want to hire his own guy after spending that much money on the team...that being said if you hire Lombardi as the GM i will stop watching them. that's like Thunder announcing that they replaced Presti with Jim Paxson...

(yes it's that bad...btw listen to Grossi's interview on the RBS today. i don't think i've ever heard him blast anybody like he did Lombardi today...)

Grossi's opinion on anything is worth the price you paid to hear it.

I'm skeptical of replacing too much of the current Browns build, as we're finally seeing talent on both sides of the ball. I also don't like the idea of bringing in a new GM a few months before the draft simply due to the limited scouting time it implies. I'd imagine it would be pretty tough to put together a thorough draft board in 3 months. But Lerner is out and Haslam is in. Haslam's first big decision was bringing in Banner, and if Banner is going to make this call, we've got no choice but to see how it plays out. I've followed this team for too long to be able to walk away, but I'm uneasy about our future. Besides Shurmur, I think most of the people in place are getting the job done, I'd prefer to stay the course for the most part. It may not be the popular opinion, but I'd rather see Jauron or Childress take on HC duties next year, and bring in a new coordinator. Why change the culture dramatically, when perhaps just a better game manager is the biggest difference between wins and losses?

People actually care what Grossi says?
