My guess is Shumpert and Jones will start, with Thompson and Delly being first two off the bench.

Perkins, Marion, and Harris are all possible for short stretches depending on matchups/ rotations.

Delly's minutes better not change much. I'm hoping The Matrix can drink from the fountain of youth. Insert Shump and Marion into the starting line-up, have TT and JJ come off the bench. If JJ doesn't have it, on to Captain America.

I'm honestly thinking Joe Harris. If Miller or Jones shot aren't on (which seems likely), I'd want to go with Joe. He is young and more mobile, and has probably been our most consistent shooter any time he has got minutes. Can't be any worse than Mike or JJ at least. Plus, he is quicker on defense.

And Marion. Marion will have to play great defense and finish easy looks. But even with that, we still need one of Joe, Mike, or JJ to come in and knock down shots, especially with JR out. Not sure Blatt has the faith in Joe for him to get any minutes, but he clearly doesn't have a problem keeping JJ in while he bricks 5 threes in a row and gets scored on every time. I say, why not give Joe a chance?

Marion has no outside shot, which means that teams will just ignore him and if he hits from outside they will live with the results. He might find his touch, but he's looked real lost offensively.

Wide open looks have been known to help a rusty player find his shot, though. Because we shelved our bench, there's little choice but to dust it off and see if we get lucky.

It just makes sense to try Marion first because he can hold his own better on the defensive side, and every minute he can play is one less minute someone else has to try to defend the opposing starting bigs.

We didn't prepare him for this. Last time he got minutes, he was a turnover machine and seemed in over his head.

Matrix and Killer Miller.

They are the unknown quantities know. But both are season vets and have been in these kind of situations before. Ideally, I would start with Kyrie - Shump - Matrix - LeBron - Mozgov in the first two games.

Really sucks that our depth is nonexistent but hopefully after this season we'll have a nice deep bench with actual useful players. Honestly just hoping James Jones doesn't see the floor because he is one of the most pathetic defenders I've ever seen.
Lebron begs to differ.

I'm in agreement here, Shawn Marion I think is the best candidate. Him shooting 26% from three was a much bigger problem at the two guard position than it would be at the four. In fact, its crazy to think that a guy that played sf/pf his entire career all of a sudden is shoe horned into the two guard spot at 36 years old. The guy is still shockingly athletic for a 36 year old to be honest. Who knows, he may actually catch fire. The guy is a .33 % career three point shooter (which I believe equals .50 % 2 point field goals) and he was hitting at .358 last season from three.

One last hurrah for the matrix; his curtain call. We don't need to play him heavy minutes. When Jr gets back I could see us running a decent amount of Shumpert and Smith on wings with LeBron at the four. You want to try and minimize Thompson and Moz on the floor at the same time.

Call me crazy, but I think we can still pull this off. It will require some luck (something we have't had as of late). Both LeBron at Blatt have had to make due with a lot worse and have come out on top.

This is why we signed our vets.

Jones is already in the rotation, so Miller & Marion are obviously the 2 who will see extended minutes now.

Starting Jones scares me. Yes, you can hide him on Noah, but we'd get killed on the glass. Marion at least has some extra bulk & can bang down low better than JJ. Plus, it gives you a little versatility defensively right out of the gate.

Judging by the regular season I would assume it's delly and Jones. But I'm hoping blatt tries something a bit different

I like Marion starting at PF (moving James over to PF when Tristan comes in). The idea here is to avoid having James play 40+ minutes at PF.

I'd start Shumpert and amp up his minutes as high as he can go.

Delly, Jones, and Miller can cleanup whatever else needs to be filled.

And of course we'll see an obligatory 4 minutes of Perkins.

I think your first two "PF's" should be "SF's", right? LeBron wouldn't slide over to PF when TT comes in.

Major minutes for Delly and Jones could kill this team. Let us offer prayers to Hashem that Marion is the guy, and that he pulls a Benjamin Button...

I'm still in the mindset to move James to the four.
He's the better scoring option down low.
He's the better defender there, and he's play PF a lot in his career.
Marion/Jones/Miller at the 3.

If you bang Gas-All a lot , he'll turn to his punk mode and start whining about contact.

I really think Marion is the only option, since he can defend and rebound at the 4, plus allows us to switch everything defensively.

Sure, LeBron can bang down low when he needs to, but we don't want 40 minutes of it.

I want the stronger defender to keep Noah off the glass.
While Marion can play there for a stretch ,remember his age and stamina.
He'll tire out quicker than Lebron would.
