That was rude Of Blatt. Flat out.

I thought it was super awkward that they were treating Blatt like a rookie mascot instead of their coach, seemed patronizing. "Congrats on your first "real" win. Lets all take a moment to recognize this insignificant landmark in a long and successful career- a landmark that only matter because we say it does" - super arrogant. I am a believer in acting like you've been there before, it was just a regular season win. Did anyone make a big deal out of Mike Brown winning his first game as an NBA coach? Maybe this is usual and I just don't know it. Were I in his position I'd be worried about the perception of value and hierarchy that was established and I would make sure my players understood that I don't need them patting me on the head, I know what winning is - even if it isn't in a context that they don't understand." Pointing out that you have already won 700 professional games is a pretty good way of doing so.

so Jim Harbaugh goes from Stanford, a succesful coach, to the 49ers and earns his first NFL victory. You don't the think the players gave him the game ball and congratulated him? Rex Ryan will win his first game in Buffalo next season, he won't get a game ball for his first victory WITH Buffalo? This was the same thing the Cavs did. It was his first NBA victory and they were excited for him, that cant be a bad thing considering where everyone apparently stands now.

I'm sure that they would have given the game ball to Mike Brown or any 1st time NBA coach on their first win. It's not patronizing, it's a way of telling the coach that the team acknowledges that while they played it out there, the preparation that went into it (i.e. the coach's role) played a critical part.

Everyone knows what winning is if they are in the NBA. Everyone that got there has won at SOME level (college, high school, whatever). Still, there is no denying that the NBA is the biggest stage, and getting a win there for the first time is a big deal.

Wow...The ego problem in the NBA is a joke. Blatt comes in with an ego...The player's individual egos don't gel with Blatt's ego. One ego thinks it's bigger than the other egos. It sounds like a bunch of middle-schoolers vying for a popularity contest.

How hard would it be for the team and coaches to just get together and hash it out? Lay it ALL out on the line. These people are paid professionals. These problems are completely superficial and should not be effecting this team in this way.

It starts with Blatt. He must start commanding respect from his assistant coaches or he will continue to look undermined, only exacerbating the problem b/w him and his players.

Then it starts with LBJ. He must show the other players that he respects Blatt. He must continue to play with effort on the defensive end. If his whole agenda is to get Mark Jackson to be our coach, then this season is truly fucked.

You have to believe that these players want to win. They are getting killed in the media right now. If they drop this game tonight, i might have to take a vacation from RCF for awhile.

Look, this isn't about ego fundamentally, it's about winning. Were you guys watching the beginning of the season? The Cavs were LOSING. Not winning, losing. Lebron had to step in and take over PG duties from Kyrie and that rescued the offense and we started to win. But we continued to run into trouble because of injury issues (including to Lebron), a crappy bench and rotations, and not using Love well. As coach, Blatt has to step up to those challenges and chart a path to winning through those obstacles. If the players aren't respecting him I suspect it's because he didn't show them he could do that. For whatever reason, he hasn't been earning their confidence in the face of challenges. If Blatt could demonstrate that he could help them win, they'd respect him -- all these guys have a lot invested in this team being successful.

In my opinion, it just falls on the players to give more effort and to stay focused for 4 quarters. All of the complaints about Blatt or Lue, were the exact same ones I read or heard when it was Mike Brown or Bryon Scott. For example, watch the 1st quarter of the Sacramento Kings game, with the game tied and Cavs in a good groove offensively, my fav player Kyrie, decides to go 1 on 3 which results in a turnover then mad at himself or mad that his guy Collison scored, he then takes it down again going 1 on 3 and loses it which results in another score for the kings and we never recovered.

I live out here in SoCal and the local sports radio hosts are going crazy stirring up shit about Love coming to the Lakers in FA this summer. They keep replaying the Windhorst soundbites about Love. It's sickening...I just hope the Cavs turn can turn this around quick.

Well I don't think they are quite the same thing. 1 game of 16 vs 1 game of 82- and this obviously can be a bad thing if Blatt's response to this meaningless platitude is being cited as why the players decided to not like him.

So a lifelong coach who made it to the most prestigious league in his profession, gains his first victory in that league and it's a meaningless platitude? So the players cant be put off by his brushing it off when they were excited FOR HIM and having a moment of bonding that he ruined?
Great, Blatt wants to act like he's been there before and all but he's got to realize that his previous accomplishments, in the eyes of NBA players, aren't on the same level as what successful NBA coaches have accomplished
It's similar to my 4 year old making me a gift at school, giving it to me and I look at him and say, "this is nice but your two older brothers already made me the same thing when they were 4. Thanks anyways."

Windhorst had no one to quote on any of this and made it all up based upon hearsay and innuendo. The very worst kind of reporting. If he really knew that the players were trying to get Blatt fired why didn't he at least say something to the effect that his "informed source" told him this and then provide an actual quote from that person and real evidence of that "fact." Windy is blowing hot air to get renewed attention because of the problems with the Cavs performance, nothing more. The truth will eventually come out so the hot air will be revealed in time and Windy will be discounted....again.
This wasn't an article. He was on the radio. You're not going to go to the same lengths to cite a source in a radio interview as you will when you write an article.

They did the same thing when they thought they were getting LeBron the first time.....and when they thought they were getting Kyrie this past summer.

It's all they have to look forward too...

What soundbites?

Dude, Love is not going to the Lakers. It'd be asinine of him. The Lakers are shit. Nobody wants to go there and play with Kobe who is going to be out of the league in 3 years at the most. And that's all they have: Kobe. Once he's gone what is the great appeal? The history of the Lakers is nice but they are garbage right now and Kevin Love going there would make them a bit better but not a ton. He's not a primary star.

I suppose anything could happen. I learned in 2010 never to say never. So sure, Love could go there. But it'd go against literally EVERYTHING he has said about winning and how he's not leaving blah blah, and besides that, the Lakers would still be mediocre and Love would be wasting more of his career there. Bad move if he goes there. Doubt he does.

Hey Windy 1-16-15 (first half of the show)
http://stationcaster.com/stations/w..._Brian_Windhorst___Jason_Gibbs-1421420124.mp3

01. Team had a lot of fun beating Lakers.

02. Team been down in the dumps all week.

03. What we saw in Lakers game was what we thought we would see from Cavs all year. Fun and winning.

04. This team has had a void of fun all year, for a variety of reasons.

05. If this is version of LeBron we will see since time off, Cavs could really gain some traction.

06. LeBron should look for time off as his career moves forward. To stay fresh.

07. It's possible last night was a start for Cavs heading in new direction. We'll see.

08. Everything comes down to defense for the Cavs.

09. From mid 3rd to mid 4th against Lakers, Cavs played very good defense. Key for them.

10. Defense for Cavs comes down to effort, because they don't have talented defensive players.

11. Formula for Cavs to turn things around is LeBron play how he has in return from rest and team must give defensive effort.

12. Alarming that this team not always play hard.

13. Cavs have not played hard consistently since mid December.

14. LeBron has come in with more aggressive demeanor last two games. Maybe this is because he can do more with improved health now.

15. I think LeBron may have not been interested in team playing their best because he may have wanted Blatt out.

16. Now LeBron seems to be coming to grips with reality that Blatt seems to be going nowhere for now, so LeBron seems to be trying to make the best of the situation. (Finally)

17. Cavs needs some wins to help make the real differences that exist among the team be lessened.

18. I don't think LeBron had any serious issues with Mike Brown.

19. I think LeBron has a desire to once again play for a coach who played in the NBA, as was case with Paul Silas (this mean he want Lue or Jackson?).

20. LeBron has an affinity for guys like Doc Rivers and Mark Jackson; grew up watching them.

21. David Blatt should lash out at his team, not the media.

22. I would tell David Blatt to go down with a fight if he is going to go down.

23. I've heard about the Ty Lue calling timeouts thing for weeks. I'm certain I have truth on my side in this case.

24. This team has roster flaws. It takes time to get a roster in place.

25. LeBron has not shown great leadership in supporting the coach.

26. From Day 1, LeBron has been undercutting Blatt. Did not talk to him for a month (in the summer?).

27. There are a number of things keeping Cavs from reaching their potential. It's not just about Blatt. It's entire organization, team, players.

28. Cavs can still salvage things, he feels.

29. If Cavs can turn things around, then this could help players build better relationships with Blatt.

30. David knew when he came to the NBA he had to tone down his "tough guy with players" act

31. European basketball is more like college; coach has more power. Unlike NBA.

32. Some observers who saw Blatt in Summer League said he seemed like different guy, much toned down from Europe.

33. Blatt adjusted his player interactions to try to adapt to NBA.

34. Chicago win/game ball moment shows disconnect between Blatt and players.

35. Blatt feels he can run team, rotation, strategy HIS way. Because of his track record. Players (NBA) not used to this and don't view Blatt in this way (basketball master).

36. Players see Blatt as a rookie; Blatt acts like he's been coaching for 30 years. Both sides are correct. This is the disconnect that is the root of many of the Blatt/Players issues on the team.

37. Blatt feels he and his tactics should be respected because of his pedigree; players look at him as guy who has to earn his stripes. All comes back to this.

38. LeBron would never tell Popovich that he was going to play point guard now. And no player on Maccabi Tel Aviv would dare to tell Blatt what the player was going to do and when he would check in games.

39. Blatt and LeBron have to overcome this divide.

40. Idea was that Cavs would be successful enough that all of this would fade away. That has not happened yet.

41. Blatt done some things to hurt himself, like Kevin Love "max player" comment.

42. If you were Kevin Love, how would you feel if Blatt were benching you and not running plays for you?

43. Only way for Cavs to get through these issues is time and success. And hasn't been much of either yet.

44. In NBA, when players are unhappy most of the time the players win.

45. Cavs supporting Blatt was move to send message to players.

46. Players responded to vote of confidence for Blatt by being blown out 5 games in a row.

47. The way the Cavs played after vote of confidence was alarming. No effort. Everyone alarmed.

48. I can only report what I'm seeing. And that is to tell the truth.

49. But what is also true is that there is a lot of time left, and things can be turned around.

Was Windhorst just throwing out this question or was he hinting at something?

If he's hinting at something than he's trying to sensationalize this b/c on LeBatard he stated he had no read on Love at all other than Love is saying all the right things (to media)

Sometimes when I read Windy's comments , it looks like he doesn't like Blatt either.
