Windhorst Radio Show & Updates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just listened to the most recent BS report post cast from today (4/28):
https://grantland.com/podcasts/bs-report/

If you have an hour to kill, I would definitely recommend it. A couple of points of interest:
  • Lebron has at least one road victory in his last 19 playoff series (might be a record, only the Celtic teams of the 60's may have more)
  • Still thinks the Cavs are the favorite in the East but just have less margin for error going forward
  • Talks about history and rivalry between Lebron and Paul Pierce
I will say the fun fact about getting a road victory in playoff series I found particularly comforting.

we'rea ctually still the heavy favotires..

5/11 odds.

atlanta is next at 4/1.

idk how the fuck, but somehow the odds to win it all only dropped from 11/5 to 12/5

@David . Shows you how little I know and pay attention to the odds. Sounds like Brian went out on a limb with that one :chuckle:.

That's just Vegas covering their ass. There's a ton of money already on the Cavs.

Books have no incentive to bump the odds. At this point, they want to dissuade people from betting on Cleveland because they stand to make plenty of money if they don't make it out of the East.

The situation they want to avoid is one where they raise the odds, get even more money on Cleveland and then have them get hot and run the table. That's how a sports book goes broke.

Just look at the bet distribution, which is available on many gambling sites. The general public has a lot of money on Cleveland. An injury like this is a complete and utter gift from a betting perspective. Sports books have a potentially "dead" favorite.

Celtics of the 60s didn't have more. Most they got up to between '58-'72 was 7 series in a row, covering '68-72 (they missed the playoffs in 70 & 71)

Here's my thing: reporters w/ axes to grind against anybody- whether I happen to hate the person they have their axe pointed towards or not- end up sounding like a bitter ex-boyfriend/girlfriend more than anything else, and their work is invalidated in my eyes.

Windy doesn't have alot of credibility in my eyes simply because he does have an axe to grind based on those who he thinks have apparently in his eyes have done him wrong (The Cavs/LeBron/Riley etc) by drying up his sources and/or stonewalling him, so that he has to invent scenarios and convos that he has no way of knowing has happened, like the whole LeBron/Wade thing in Vegas. He doesn't know.

Windy's whole career has been based on having those sources feeding him info; now that they've dried up, the axe grinding/gossip mongering is his calling card. If anything has been exposed since the years of him covering the Cavs for the Beacon Journal and later the PD, it's been this.

In fairness to Windy, there was a time when he was well-respected around the league as a very hard worker who never missed shootarounds, attended every possible practice, etc.. He used to have good insight/commentary on Cavs' opponents because he just worked so hard at it.

Not sure what happened, but I wouldn't be shocked if his health was factor, and he just can't do that anymore.

Kind of feel badly for him, to be honest.

I remember those days. Loved his original in-game blogs on Blogger.com he used to do at the ABJ and how refreshing it was. And the health thing; yeah, it was pretty touch and go for him for awhile.

It just saddens me to see how much he's fallen as a legit reporter when the $$ was thrown at him by ESPN. But he wouldn't be the first one to trade ethics for cash.

I'd like to see any of us turn down that kind pay/notoriety raise. Yes it does suck because he used to be an amazing beat guy, but you gotta take care of you.

Windy has been propping up Tristan these days, so I wonder if LeBron's agent has been giving him and other media types tidbits in exchange for some very favorable press on the eve of his free agency.

Tristan has been a very valuable rebounder, but no way was he the fourth or third best (before Love was hurt) Cavs player, as I think Windy recently opined.

EVERY media outlet has been hyping Tristan for months, not just Windy.

Was there no radio show today? I always listen a couple hours later on the Podcasts app, and there wasn't one posted for today.

I checked too. Couldn't find today's if there was one.

It was on today. I listened to the first 20 mins and then had to turn it off. Planned to listen the podcast. Emmett Golden ran it today instead of Gibbs because he was on draft coverage duty last night, maybe that's why it's not posted yet.

Well he'll need to be the third best now.
Because he's got a lot of action in front of him now.
