Brian Windhorst is trash.

He's wrong. Consistently. The mods defend him, but he's garbage based on what I've seen for the last 6+ months.

Don't give his show any airtime, make the man get a real job outside of riding Lebron's coattails and stirring up drama.

Absolutely no respect for him anymore. I tried to hang on.

The mods will continue to defend him and I can't really blame them considering the history they have with him here. At the same time, I completely side with his detractors. If he were any other reporter, very few people would come to his defense and mockery of him would be tolerated more.

He is a pot stirrer at this point. There can only be so many excuses made for someone who has been wrong more often than not regarding the Cavs / LeBron over the past year. The idea that he is a mouthpiece for the LeBron camp and that he is there for a misdirection is ridiculous.

Too much history with Windy...

I see a lot of angles with him:
  • He was the go-to cover-journalist that proved his worth
  • He was also the person who left Northeast Ohio in order to cover the player that gave him his job, in a sense
  • We as fans weren't very forgiving of LBJ, so naturally we were vicious of Windy as well
  • Unlike LeBron, the guy who doesn't connect via the internet, Windy had his share of comments directed at him like venom; this could really tear at him given his job to cover LeBron-wherever-he-be and everything connected
  • 4 years of constant back and forth has a group of the loyal Windy fans and the ones who say "Fuck it, he's LeBron's @$$-kisser", it's a constant war
  • Realistically, we could've caused Windy to be sour grapes towards the entire fan base; having a constant critical view on forums like ours among other media doesn't help
  • This probably affects the news he gives, so despite being one of the best at what he does, it comes across as "Wet Blanket Windy"
So there's that question I can ask, considering he most likely is still a member (if not, he's in the loop somehow):

Is it possible to let it go already? He's not a star. He's a journalist, whose job is to connect to the fans and those in the loop. Constantly being derogatory towards a key media member who tries to feed us with news comes across as even worse sour grapes.

Leave him alone already and move on.

You don't have to, but there's better things to do with our time than inject venom into some media reporter who happened to share a destiny with LeBron...

I enjoyed his show today. I Just finished the podcast. I really have no problem with Windhorst. He's a weird guy and definitely LeBron has made his career, but Windhorst is a great NBA journalist either way.

2-3 times he prided himself on being a "realist" and acknowledge people think he's a pessimist. I think that is valid but I also don't think he was always like this. Something changed at some point, I don't know when it was. Regardless, he's just a fucking journalist. He's not on the team or affecting it, so I'm not going to waste a ton of time railing against him or defending him either.

Sure thing, Windy...:chuckle:

Seriously though, I doubt us at RCF are causing him to hate Cleveland/Cleveland's fan base. Tbh, I think he has very few connections within the current Cavs administration. Thus, his only option is to create reports/theories based off of conjecture.

Cavs or in general? He broke the Bledsoe extension first.

Because Rich Paul is Bledsoe's agent. Lebron's coattails, AGAIN.

And I was referring to something Cavs related. Most on this board, in the local media, and to a large extent the national media as well, see him as the most elite Cavs reporter.

Which he isn't. Not even close. Jason Lloyd dusts his ass every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

People treat his word as gospel too often, and I think it is time that we stop. He's wrong too much. He is Chris Broussard.

Lloyd hasn't been getting that much info because of the Grant firing.
Who cares if Rich Paul is one of Windhorst's connections? In order to become successful to be an NBA journalist or insider like I am, you need to be connected to as many people as possible.

Windhorst is one of the most connected people in the league and is respected around the league.

Every reporter gets shit wrong sometimes.

I think this would be the best thing for him and us anyways. He can lead our bench when one or two of our big three our resting, and we already know he plays great with Delly. Having Delly, Miller, Marion, TT, and one of big three leaves too much of the offensive responsibility to that big three member and is easier to guard against.

If you move Miller in with the starters and Dion in with the bench, it ensures that you always have at least two offensive forces the defense has to deal with, plus it lets Dion play the way he wants to play.

If this move is made, I hope Dion is smart enough to see that it's not like before where he was being put on the bench on a shitty team. Instead, this would be a move that evens the rotations on a great team.

EDIT: And if he's not willing to accept that move to the bench, I move his ass next year with the Haywood contract to shore up any weaknesses that appear throughout this year.

Windy has dogged Cle for 4 years...still remember him saying I don't know why people were so shocked when LeBron left I told people on KNR he was leaving .. when up until about 3-4 hrs until the decision he was saying Cle.. he was wrong then and was wrong this time too...about pretty much everything...he is what he is and that is a guy with minimal basketball knowledge and someone who has been wrong more than right lately...from Lebron to Kyrie and then he actually goes on WKNR and talks about us trading an ungodly amount for Gasol...I could care less but he has been arrogant IMO and awful when it comes to his predictions

Just heard the replay. Great show.

What connections? What have these connections translated to lately? Seems the ONLY time he breaks something is if it comes from Lebron's camp. It's his only claim to fame.

Yes, reporters are wrong sometimes. The thing is, I can't remember the last time Windy was dead on.

Sure, he's respected. But I'm not sure he deserves that level of respect anymore.

I thought Windy's first show was absolutely great. I really enjoyed the insight. That's the Windy we love, and I enjoyed the bomb he dropped about the Cavs wanting to eventually have Waiters come off the bench.

I'm in 100% agreement with that. I think Waiters is better served coming off the bench with this team. Mike Miller makes sense starting, gives us more floor spacing.

I just hope Dion can accept it. It doesn't matter whether you start, or come off the bench. He's going to have a big role on this team.

I was for Dion coming off the bench last year, but I was just never in favor of having Jack start. At least that problem is not one we'll have.

How much more floor spacing could Miller provide than Dion? Is his last 5 games Dion is shooting 50% from 3 with a pretty large sample size.

Dion is our best option as the starting SG. I see no reason why he should come off the bench behind the likes of Joe Harris and Mike Miller...

Miller has short terribly and does not play defense. Dion gives so much more flexibility.

Mike Brown had Dion come off the bench to appease Kyrie, then, when Kyrie got hurt, Dion showed the talent that he has.

Then Brown rightfully got fired.

I don't think Blatt will make the same mistake as Brown.
