They only have one third rounder.

I agree. I think we are also looking for receivers that will not lead the league in dropped passes. This was clearly a huge problem last season. Cant move the ball unless you can catch it on 1st or 3rd down.

Good luck adding rookies to the mix and hoping that changes.

If Colt McCoy improves, the drop numbers will too IMO

That is true. I guess i will retract my statement and say the blame is with both parties.

I think whether it's Richardson or Claiborne, it'll be a good pick and i'll support it. I want Richardson more because we need help greatly at our skill positions and it will help Colt McCoy greatly

With the forth overall pick in the NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select, Brock Osweiler QB from Arizona State.

my draft board has been like this for about 3 months

luck
griffin
kahil
claiborne
richardson
blackmon

i havent seen/heard nothing to change it. if im the browns i take kahil or claiborne depending on who is there. simply put you take BPA and claiborne is not only a better CB than richardson is RB, claiborne has a longer playing career per position than richardson.

edit i think its very important to remember not only have heckert and holmgren traditionally leaned defense early in the draft, they both almost always took running backs in the 2nd and 3rd. i just dont see the browns taking anyone but claiborne or kahil if he is there (he wont be)

The problem with taking Claiborne is, you almost have to trade either him or Haden once Claiborne's rookie deal starts to come to an end. It's too much money to invest into two CBs, assuming that's what Claiborne becomes.

Their deals will be three or so years apart, probably wouldn't be an issue.

If we're staying at 4, Richardson or Claiborne is definitely the pick. I'd be fine with either, although I'm sure a lot of people would go nuts if we pass up on TRich.

That said, I voted trade down, because that's what I'm expecting.

Hope we take Claiborne, but think we take Richardson unless Kalil slips to 4 (in which case I see a trade down to 6 or 10 happening)

I'd love to trade down to 6 (you would almost have to for STL's first next year right?) and take whoever is left there. I'd love to see Miami just to 3 to take Tannelhill just to improve the odds of that scenario. But if we stay at 4, I think Richardson would help this franchise more than any other player in this draft outside of Luck and RGIII.

No votes for Justin Blackmon? Yikes.

Trent Richardson should, and overall will be the pick the Browns make if they remain at No.4.. Its not even a discussion in my eyes, he clearly makes this offense better and gives us somebody the defense has to gameplan for. Although Richardson is the smart pick, I would not be surprised if the Browns take Blackmon.

But with the wide receiver crop being deep in this class right now, it makes most sense to grab the head and shoulders best running back and grab the second or third best receiver who aren't exactly far off from each other in terms of potential.

I'd prefer trading out, but I would be fine with Blackmon, Claiborne, and Richardson at 4 though. I just don't see the logic in Kalil and I don't think Tannehill is worth it. I went with Claiborne in the poll. I think he's an incredible player at a position of value that you just can't get later in the draft. I think he'll eventually be better than Haden. Even though you can get and most RBs seem to come later in the draft, I understand the overwhelming sentiment for Richardson. Yeah, alone teams will just stack the box on him, but you have to start somewhere. We're going to get other players too though, and perhaps that will help. I find it a little surprising that out of 90 people, nobody wants Blackmon.

Richardson, for all the reasons above and then this: If the Browns are fortunate enough to have both Joe Haden and Mo Claiborne become elite CBs, they'd only be able to sign one of them after the rookie contract. That means that at best you're keeping a guy for less time than I expect Richardson to be an effective RB on the Browns. If you're in the position to keep both CBs, then the Browns didn't get enough value for either Haden, Claiborne or both.
