Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What contract? He's a free agent at the end of the year...

The fuck are you even talking about, man. :chuckle:

They'd just eat the money to deal him, how are you struggling so much with this?

Even if the Indians were willing to eat the money just to free up ABs for a young player (Chang maybe? Although he's struggled with injuries so far and has been awful when healthy), I can't see a team giving the Indians even a low-end prospect to get Kipnis.

They'll have to DFA him, if they want to create an opportunity for a young IFer.

Yeah, no they won't.

.761 OPS vs. RHP on the year

.800+ OPS since being moved to the 2 hole.

Nearing .750 OPS for the month of May.

That's not a guy who gets DFA'd. So unless we just want to continue blindly shitting on a guy or completely misunderstand how deadline deals work, can we move on now?

115 games left in the season and the sky is falling

The Indians aren't trading Lindor this summer. Maybe next summer (more likely next winter), but not now. Kipnis would just be a salary dump, but that wouldn't be until the end of July.

Martin, Otero, O. Perez, and Clippard could also be moved if they fall out of it.

The only major move could be trading Bauer. He could potentially bring in a haul from the Yankees or Padres that could help both now and the future.

We'll never know what the Indians were offered for Kluber this winter, but there was some speculation that Verdugo was available for Kluber along with a couple other pieces from the Dodgers. If that's the case, then you can add that move to the list of recent baffling decisions by this front office. Dolan's mandate to slash payroll is worthy of the scorn it received, and the organization's plan to do so while claiming to still be contending for a World Series was completely flawed. Either you're all in or you're rebuilding. Having said that, the front office and the manager haven't exactly pushed all the right buttons either.

-The mismanagement of the 2017 postseason roster.
-Neglecting Yandy and then trading him.
-Dealing for Leonys Martin instead of Tommy Pham.
-Adopting the approach on an organizational level of pushing their hitters to try to go opposite field instead of pulling the damn ball.
-Tito's bizarre lineups, which tend to ignore obvious split advantages/disadvantages.

Can you not spew the same bullshit after every shitty loss? K thanks
Our bullpen is shaky. Our batters can't hit. Our starting pitching is decimated by injuries and a lack of confidence. But at least we have defense! We needed to trade Kluber after all the rumors came out. Keeping him made the whole team jumpy. Trading him would have reset the deck.

I think yes we should listen to an overwhelming warchest offer for Lindor if opportunity presents itself. And what i mean is the moon, the sun, and the stars. I want to make sure i deplete some team's farm system if I'm trading 2.5 years of Lindor. We aren't paying that guy. Sadly.

And apparently Dolans can only go all in once in their ownership and pay an absurd salary cap. We wasted Lindor's transcendent talent in 2019. Just tell it like it is.

I mean, I'm not really sure what people expected.

This downturn started last season. That's why the Dolan's mandated a salary reduction. It was absolutely the right move. They wouldn't be World Series contenders even if they brought all their FA's back. I'm okay with that. I'm not a proponent to spending in FA so I don't mind their inactivity at all.

I mean, who were they going to keep? Miller was always hurt, Allen looked done, Lonnie was always hurt, Brantley didn't want to be here, Edwin regressed. I mean, most posters shit on majority of these guys while they were here anyways.

Things really aren't all that different this year compared to last other than Jose and Lindor struggling and the starting pitching being slightly more inconsistent.... that's how fine of a line things are right now for this organization. 3/4 of their team offensive value last year came from three players (Lindor, Ramirez, Brantley). When two of those guys struggle the next year, you're up shit creek no matter who you surround them with. You can't fix that offensive imbalance in one offseason without extreme blind luck....

I do think they missed an opportunity to move Kluber or Bauer for a package that they currently couldn't get for either guy right now. I don't think they were ever offered a haul for either guy.

I do think Tito's lineups and insistence on playing veteran players has hamstrung the organization a bit.

I don't love the development of our hitters at the MLB level considering how well guys who have left have done with other MLB organizations

Regardless of what people say, the organization is in great shape. I love the minor league system, there's now some real exciting MLB caliber talent in the upper minors and even the big club has some young talent now.

The Indians don't need to trade Lindor... that's stupid to even think. This isn't basketball where you build around one guy or the presence of one guy signals you go all in or whatever.

The margin of error is so razor thin in baseball, I don't think anybody should overreact to a year where everything seemed to go wrong. Give it a few more weeks. If they don't turn it around, sell off the pending FA's, shutdown the guys with nagging injuries, give the young guys some extra rope and give it another go next year.

If they do indeed “blow it up”’what happens with Tito?? Does he stick around for another rebuild??

Evidence to support this?

In what world do you actually think the owners are happy their team might not be contending this year?

Read what you vomit up before you press the submit post button.

It’s almost like you’ve never followed the Indians before. Relax. Calling the Dolan’s cheapskates is Cleveland’s oldest pastime.
