To say Flacco is not top 15 of NFL starting QB's, you'd pretty much have to say that you think some combination of 5 of the below guys are all better than Flacco:

Ryan Fitzpatrick
Jay Cutler
Matt Stafford
Carson Palmer
Matt Ryan
Cam Newton
Matt Schaub
Sam Bradford

Ryan, Schaub and MAYBE Fitzpatrick are better. Stafford is probably better, but he hasn't been healthy. Ultimately I think Stafford will be the best on the list above. I personally wouldn't say Fitzpatrick is better because he's only had 1.5 good seasons thus far. Carson Palmer has to prove he is what he was a few years ago. Carson Palmer of last year is right around the same level as Flacco now. And of the other guys...none are close.

Flacco is most definitely top 15.

I would say all of those guys are better than Flacco except Palmer and Bradford.

Off topic sort of, but I don't think people realize what Cam Newton has done so far in Carolina. He looks special.

If I had a choice right now of that list to have as my franchise QB, it would be Cam Newton without a doubt...

Same. What he has done with that teams offense is unbelievable. Steve Smith looked like he went from a great WR to a mediocre WR the past couple of years. Now with Cam there, he has become a top WR in the league again.

I'd trade our whole damn offense for Newton. :chuckles:

No matter what he meant by saying it, it still scared the hell out of me hearing it.

I agree it's terrible to hear him say that, but at the same time let's use our brains. If McCoy blows, they aren't going to stick with him. Furthermore, what is he supposed to say? I wouldn't look deeply into that at all.

Makes him look like a liar if he replaces Colt next year. I don't get why he said that. Why not just say, Colt is our starter, we have faith in him, and we'll make an evaluation on every position after the season.

Unless we get Luck, Colt most likely will be the starter at the beginning of the season while we groom the new kid to take over. Most of the time your rookie QB doesn't start right off the bat unless they go number 1 or you don't have a choice.

I totally agree, like I said I'd rather he not have said it. All I'm saying is it's a statement with absolutely 0% credibility so don't worry about it.

I think Flacco is better than Palmer, Bradford, and Cutler. Newton and Fitzpatrick both have more to prove, but I agree that they'll both likely be better...particularly Cam.

I heard the interview yesterday and I know what he said about the topic. He basically said exactly what you just said. Adam the bull asked him if McCoy would be the starter next year. His response was the QB situation and all positions will be evaluated after the season. So Adam asked him if we would look at another QB in the draft. To which he said it's WAY too early to look at that. Adam pressed him again about McCoy and next year. Heckert responded that as of now he's our starting QB and will continue to be until something changes.

Bottom line it was front office speak. He has to say nice things because he doesn't want to create another media storm. He has no other option at QB and he's going to be patient and let the year play out.

St L would be in an interesting spot. They have a perfectly good QB who will have 2 years under his belt at that time and trade him for the flavor of the month in Luck? Luck very well could be the next Peyton Manning but Bradford is no slouch and he's 2 years into the system. What does St Louis do? You can make arguments on both sides. Unless they are in a bad salary cap situation then I think they would lean more towards trading the #1 pick vs trading Bradford.

Bradford is much better than the stats show from this year. I know Josh McDaniels is a local guy and he has been credited as being great with QBs when he coached in New England, but St. Louis has taken two steps back offensively this year without Shurmur. I'd make a deal for Bradford without a second thought.

Having a schedule which doesn't involve pushoves doesn't help either.
