Game #1-Cleveland Browns vs Miami Dolphins-September 8th, 2013 1:00 p.m. EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Was just about to post that. Love ELPRESADOR.

From what I saw of Gilkey, he could not do any worse than Cousins. Cousins performance today was one of the worst I have seen from an OL in many many years.

Even if Gilkey plays poorly, he could develop into a future starter. Cousins was garbage 2 years ago and nothing has changed. The Ravens released him and he has been here going on year 3. There is not rush to replace him because the front office does not believe in this team this year. Why else would you count on players like Buster S, and Owens and not address the guard situation. The fact that thy are sticking with Cousins until Lavou gets back tells me all I need to know. Organization is using this as a throw away year, it explains trading away the draft picks and not addressing the secondary and major holes in the o line, and trying to convert and third string rb into a fullback.
Weeden played poorly, but they are not doing him any favors with this o line and wr's who cant get separation besides Bess.
Tired of this team throwing away seasons, it is such a losers mentality to play for "two years down the road"
This team could have used a 4th rounder and 5th rounder who could have at least contributed as backups and special teams players. Not getting a legit starting corner to go with Hayden when you had plenty of cap space is a huge slap in the face to the fans.

Watching Cousins reminded me of the offensive lines of years past, when quarterbacks were routinely going out with concussions because the entire line was like one big revolving door. He has no business being on an NFL roster after his performance today. He had what, like 5 penalties? One of which was a boneheaded holding penalty in the red zone that cost the Browns a TD. He was consistently beaten by his man.

On the bright side, for all of you guys with an eye towards the draft, well... Cousins might just be an early favorite for draft position MVP.

Just wanted to pop in and make sure T-Rich was getting his fair share of criticism.... Twinkle toes seems to be confused and doesn't realize he is a power back and not a 185 pound Dion Lewis type guy. Glad we drafted a RB 3rd overall in a pass happy league where RB's are a dime-a-dozen.

OLine is a joke

Weeden is terrible.

Greg Little is still as shaky as you can get.

Pretty much the entire offense is a disaster. We could easily upgrade pretty much everywhere except LT and C.

That's a ridiculous statement.

One, TR has enough speed to be a very good all around back and runs through many arm tackles. Calling him simply a "power back" is an insult to his abilities.

Second, I don't know if you were just watching the ball or if TV just flat out didn't show it, but he was literally going up against a wall of defenders every play and his offensive line was buckling under the pressure. They aren't good enough at run blocking to open holes like they are up in Minnesota. So when Miami is sometimes putting 10 in the box, it's hard to blame TR for not being able to get yards. They simply do not respect the QB and and selling out for the run.

Perhaps if they had a WR who could get separation or a QB who could fit the ball into tight windows and make correct reads, they would have something. But they have neither right now, although Gordon coming back will really help, so now Norv and Chud are going to have to find something else.

The way they called plays was pretty stupid, and giving Richardson so few touches in general was mind bogglingly stupid. Get him the ball in open space and let him go.

Richardson needs more touches and Weeden needs less throws. 13 carries isn't gonna get anything accomplished, other than not establish any sort of run game and make it easier to defend against the pass because your offense is so predictable. But, there are two sides to that argument, I suppose -- not having a respectable passing attack is not going to enable you to have a good running game, especially going up against a defensive front like Miami's.

Little is Braylon 2.0 at this point. Lots of talent but can't make any use of it because he drops the ball so damn much. Not sure if it's a mental thing or what with him.

Offensive line was awful today. Cousins is better suited to be a drive through cashier at McDonald's than a starting offensive lineman in the NFL. We've already discussed that at length though.

This team is really missing Gordon. Stupid drugs.

Bess looked good today, as did Cameron.

Defense actually looked good today. Four sacks, a pick, completely stymied the run, and overall kept the game close until late in the fourth quarter. Tannehill really only managed two good drives against this defense -- unfortunately for a Browns team with a young, mediocre offense, that was more than enough.

Penalties were bad. 9 for 57 yards. Gotta clean that up. Several of those came from the man of the hour, Cousins.

Next week has the potential to be bad. I mean, real bad. The Ravens will have had more than a week to be angry about getting embarrassed on national television, and will be playing in their first home game since winning the Super Bowl, so they're going to be amped up.

Do you think ownership needs to start being a bit more demanding about the level of football they play?

I think it's high time they start demanding championships.

Is McFadden hurt or straight up not playing? I watch shitty streams so I'm bound to miss some stuff.

Actually ownership has been horrible since they returned. Not too many organizations have any type of success with mediocre or poor leadership. If an owner does not hold front office staff accountable for putting a winning product on the field (IE the Holmgren era) then there will be not be a sense of urgency to put a winning product on the field. Thanks for making my point for me.

An owner having the expectations that his GM put a playoff caliber team on the field is a necessity. If you are simply happy with mediocrity then that is all you will achieve. Sadly mediocrity would be a huge step forward for this franchise. The Browns have yet to hire a solid GM, (Heckert made some good draft picks, but he was unable to put a solid roster together.)

It is too early to put Haslem in the Lerner category, but if Lombardi and Banner can not improve the roster drastically by 2015 he better be willing to make changes, or else he will be no different then Lerner.

On a positive note the additions of Bess and Kruger and Bryant look to be solid moves early. So perhaps they finally have a decent eye for getting quality vets via free agency. Still worried about Banner and Lombardi running the drafts. That will either make or break us in the short term. In the long run, if those two fail Haslem needs to be able to cut ties and hire new football management.
I do get the sense that he is more invested then Lerner and that he is not going to "stick by Banner" no matter what.

Just gonna come out with it. I'm a Steelers fan and I have valid reasons for it that I could explain later. I get the angst in here, but listen, there is a real bright side for the Browns. 7 fucking wins might win this division this year. It's a train wreck of a division.

Steelers might not win 6 games. Baltimore might get to 8, if things really break their way. Cleveland is honest-to-god capable of winning this shitastic division.

Bengals or Ravens will win the division. My money is on Cincy. Steelers are going to have some lean years. Browns, such a trainwreck each year. Have to find a QB. We are not winning over 6 games until we do.

this is my first time looking through a browns topic and actually knowing whats going on

alls i have to say is

LOL

Look... We ALLLLLL knew what the mood in here was going to be... Here's how I'm looking at it...

They're NOT going to win the Super Bowl
They're PROBABLY not going to win the division
They're PROBABLY not going to make the playoffs
They're PROBABLY not going to be over .500

However, what's the fucking point of giving up? I'll never understand it. I'm not saying they'll replicate the 10-6 season after getting drubbed by the Steelers, but who the hell knows? If anyone tells me they knew that team would win 10 games, well, then you're full of shit.

There was no Josh Gordon. CLEARLY Weedens #1 guy. CLEARLY helps take pressure off of Little. He will most likely help free up Cameron. Also, you have to think it'll help Benjamin by putting him where he belongs. Whether you want to admit it or not, despite the fact that, yes, he didn't play well, Weeden received NO help whatsoever. Cousins. Benjamin's key drop and useless fight for the ball. Littles DROPS with one an into an INT. No matter your opinion on Richardson, no running back can get going with 13 carries. We knew that just with Jamal Lewis alone. Guy is a bruiser along with a speedster. Has to wear offenses down. They did that with LT in SD, so I hope Norv does the same here. That game plan made little sense, but that's a different topic.

The defense looked pretty damn solid. They gave up one TD after a dropped INT. The last touchdown is what it is. 4th down failed inside their own territory. Penalties. They also get back Rubin and Mingo. One of them is vital. The other is considered possibly the best rookie in the NFL.

So look, you can give up and bitch and moan and post GIFs of fat chicks taking huge dumps, but I'm still going to watch with a little confidence like I do every year. Makes it more enjoyable. Then by week 13-14 you can just say fuck it and give up then. I'd suggest some of you downers do the same.

EDIT: I get that at 22 I'm not as old as some of you, but my dad is 53 and does the same thing.

This is why no one should pity us. We are bunch of fucking whiners that piss and moan at the drop of a hat. The funny thing is, this thread can't even sniff the Indians threads. Most of the haters are gone due to them being in the hunt, but great examples why we are the bitchiest fan base out there. Bunch of complainers.
