Game #1-Cleveland Browns vs Miami Dolphins-September 8th, 2013 1:00 p.m. EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think my main thing, really, is if you're going to harp on the negative then you also have to bring up the positives. Its the only way to give a fair assessment. That's especially the case in game ONE.

I'm very aware of how bad they looked yesterday. But it doesn't mean I can't take away some of the good things as well.

Eh. I don't know. Fuck it. I'm going to go play golf.

Really the only positive thing I took from the game was our linebacker play. They filled the gaps in the run game really well and held Miami's run game in check the entire day. Kudos to that unit. I thought they also did a decent job of getting in passing lanes in the middle of the field. Tannehill hit a few throws behind them, but in totality, that unit was one of our best units on the day.

Offensively, if our o-line and especially Mitchell Schwartz are that bad, you might as well let Jason Campbell start. Weeden is a statue and it will be a long, terrible year for Browns fans to watch him get decimated. I understand the (3) picks weren't his fault, but the offense looked awful even if those balls are caught. It'd be great to see Weeden get a fair shake and execute a Norv Turner offense all things being equal...I just don't think we have the offensive line to allow that happen. Which is sad with the amount of resources we've put into the offensive line. And how is Oniel Cousins even on the roster? Patrice O'Neal would be a major upgrade and at least make us laugh instead of cry:

I just want to know where Cafe is with his Browns playoff bet.

This is a good assesment. I still think Jordan Cameron was a huge bright spot.

Weeden was NOT good. But he just got no help. Those 3 picks weren't even all of it. Benjamin dropped a potential huge gain for them in the 4th.

I agree on Cousins, though. I'd be a dipshit not to. Oniel Cousins was the worst part of the game. It would be hard to convince me otherwise. Wiped away some big plays. Especially the one where the refs incorrectly called the penalty on Miami and then changed it. He is absolute trash. My mom watched the 4th with me and goes, "my lord that 75 should be cut!"

EDIT: I missed possibly the most important word...

Bengals or Ravens will win the division. My money is on Cincy. Steelers are going to have some lean years. Browns, such a trainwreck each year. Have to find a QB. We are not winning over 6 games until we do.

But the thing is, the Ravens are about to go through lean years too. They have the exact same problems Pittsburgh has. They were an elite, all-time defense whose best players, Hall of Famers, got old and they've failed at replacing them. So, their defense has taken a few steps back. Meanwhile, the offenses have failed to pick up the slack for either team for various reasons (in Pittsburgh's case it's been some piss-poor drafting on that side of the ball, for Baltimore its Joe Flacco) and so these teams that were carried by their defense and no longer can be have offenses incapable of shouldering the load. I'll be surprised if the Ravens are over .500 this year. The Browns, as bad as they looked, didn't look any worse than Baltimore giving up 50 or Pittsburgh being down 17-2 with two minutes left at home to Tennessee. HOnestly, the Browns might have had the second best performance in the division this week.

We also faced Miami who should be worse than Denver, Chicago and Tennessee.

Browns are tied for first in the division... what's there to worry about? :chuckles:

That was not one of his better performances. However, he is generally hilarious.

At first, I thought the idiocy was intentional. But it's not. He really is dumb as hell. But he also seems to recognize it, which is helpful.

Weeden was good. But he just got no help.

No, he was not good. Not even remotely in the vicinity of good, regardless of whether Travis Benjamin dropped a big gain.

He completely abandons his footwork when faced with even the potential of a blitz, his accuracy and lack of touch resulted in two interceptions.

There is no doubt he lacks the help on offense to have his deficiencies be shadowed, but good quarterbacks raise the level of play from their supporting cast by being good. Weeden is never going to be that guy, and will be the type of guy that NEEDS superior offensive talent to mask his clear lack of talent.

I meant not good... Which obviously changes a lot.

Just gonna come out with it. I'm a Steelers fan and I have valid reasons for it that I could explain later.

I thoroughly enjoyed DeCastro trying to illegally block low, and taking out Pouncey for the season.

My next door neighbor is a Steeler fan (how I moved next to the only one in Nashville, I dont know) and he fired up his riding mower after DeCastro took Pouncey out for the year.

Dirty play that came back to bite them in the ass.

You have to wonder if DeCastro gets some points off for diving into his own centers leg and destroying his knee.

Say what you will about Cousins, but at least he didn't do this:

Never want to see a guy hurt, but this move was so illegal and malicious in intent, that this is exactly what Steelers deserve.

Hope they were ready to kill DeCastro in the lockerroom.
