It's not being discussed much but what the hell were the Lakers thinking offering us Sacre and a future pick? Are there any smarts left in Laker land?? Always trying to lowball teams with their offers.

Their ego is still huge. That trade is laughable, Maybe if they added this years unprotected pick... wouldn't that be funny.

I mean there might have been a third team involved and more coming back to the Cavs, but yeah, the Lakers are in a bad spot.

Crazy to see just how bad of a spot the Lakers and Knicks are.

Both are solely relying on past glories(the Lakers with their franchise history and the Knicks with Phil) plus a gutted roster to build a team.

But if either of them manage to hit home runs on the FA market next year, they'll still have a massive problem building a team even as deep as we have here in year one. And I think players are starting to come savvy to the fact that right now the elite teams are the ones with quality depth(GS, Port, Chi, Tor, Was, Atl, SAS, etc)

So I just see it as very unlikely that guys like Gasol, Aldridge, or Rondo would touch the Knicks or Lakers. I think they're more likely to be aiming at all the RFA's: Reggie Jackson, Butler, Kawhi, Draymond Green, Brandon Knight, Tobias Harris, Enes Kanter, and even guys like Shumpert and Tristan.

But all of those guys can be matched by their current teams.

I think it could get really ugly for the Lakers and Knicks fans next summer. But then they can sell the fanbase on the Great FA Summer of 2016.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Suns own this year Laker pick, unless its top 5. Lakers will finish somewhere between 4th and 7th. Even if they finish 4th or 5th, they could still get bumped out of a top 5 if other teams jump into the top 3.

Impossible unless you wanna trade one of Lebron or Love to do it. Not enough salary to match.

All shots at big money centers aren't possible now until the summer. Whoever we get now will be a lower pay player. Someone that can fit into the trade exception.
What if they did a three way trade including Boston?

Not even saying what I think should happen, just saying what I think the Cavs are trying to do.

You know, things have been a bit depressing lately. But I went, and read some Knicks fans reaction to this trade, to their season, hell, to just about everything, and I couldn't feel better.

A lot of the Knicks fans hate the trade. It really is funny reading what other fans think, because like us, most fans, seem to overvalue their own stock too much. Some Knick fans had been talking about unloading JR Smith for a first rounder. I mean, when we think of it, we go "what are they nuts", but hey, some fans on this site do the same to the likes of Bennett, Dion, etc, where they get their expectations too high for the guys that are on our team. Expecting too much, when in reality, they don't net much.

Anyways, it really makes me chuckle, and feel good, how envious they would be to be in our shoes. One fan goes, "we don't get even a first round pick, meanwhile Cleveland gets two good rotational players, and a first! Not fair, Jackson sucks".

Most think Phil Jackson is just a corpse in a suit, I can feel some empathy for them, with years, and years of disappointment with all 3 off my Cleveland teams. But at the same time, it made me thankful I'm not a Knicks fan at least. :chuckle:

It was a good deal for the Cavs, that's all that matters.

Sucks to see this play out, but I think Dion and his agent were irresponsible for casting him as a SG just to get him drafted higher.

I actually love Dion's emotion. Just feel he was miscast from the start. Should have never been put next to a player like Irving. They both need the same kind of 3 and D guard beside them. He'll get that now when he ends up in combinations with Roberson and/or when Russ is sucking wind and lets him handle the ball in their time on the court.

Im more upset with Grant for making two picks that stunted the growth of Irving and left us with two reserves than I am for Dion not turning into what he never showed he could be. Kinda like expecting Tristan to turn into what he is not as well. Would rather move on from him too than pay him 12 mil a season now.

Two very bad draft picks.

Good Luck Ball Hard

His defense was getting better, all his numbers were on an update trend, we had him another year before RFA, and we know he comes on strong in second half of seasons. I'm glad we accumulated all these players and picks to sell fast/low on every deal because Lebron came back and his letter said it was going to take awhile.

We may have sold low on Dion, but there's no denying that this team is lacking in both depth and athleticism. Selling Dion and bringing back two long, athletic NBA-caliber wings and potentially a center (with the Thunder pick) gives us both. I was a Dion fan and it sucks we gave up on him, but our team may have just gotten a much-needed infusion that will help us moving forward.

All his numbers were on an upward trend? His last five games he shot 36.5% on 23 of 63 shooting, 1 of 11 from 3 and only scored 50 points. I'm a huge Dion supporter myself, but in all honesty defending his play had become increasingly difficult with each passing game. I wish him nothing but the best but the fact we got a starting caliber shooting guard, a 6th man and a pick that could net us a starting center, i'd say that was more then fair compensation.

We desperately needed length, the team looks so damn small out there.

Which arbitrary number of games should I use?

The only thing that can save this for me is getting a decent center. Rooting for Lebron and his heat buddies just ain't my thing.
