So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I had some problems with Griffin but he built a championship team and might have repeated if some of his vet acquisitions had come through (Korver game 2 shot, for instance). Thought he overvalued offense, but we knew that before he was hired.

Love for George or Butler are moves that bring them closer to GS and help lessen LBJs minutes.
In two years this team can't win a game with LBJ on the bench.
It's has to end. JB and PG both help accomplish this.

Then what do you do next year when there is no Love, George or Lebron?

Why presume LBJ is leaving?

Why presume he isn't? Also what is the team's record in games he doesn't play?

You want to lighten the load around Lebron you do that by putting players in place that can help him win over the long term. You don't do it on a 1 year rental

Doesn't help when Griff doesn't want to trade for Melo though.. (obviously not involving Love)

The only way I trade Love for Melo is if NY throws in an unprotected First rounder. If you can get Melo for spare parts and convince him to come off the bench then fine... I don't see it happening.

Wow.

I thought ultimately everything would work out and Griff would end up signing an extension.

But I guess, this was always going to happen. Usually, when someone signs a contract extension, it doesn't drag on till late. So, in a way, we should have seen this coming. Still.

Sure, Griff made some mistakes but overall, I thought he did a really good job otherwise. Some of good things he did may well have been because of us having LeBron but still you have to give him credit for that. He played a part in us winning the Championship last year and for that I would always be grateful to him.

Thank You, Griff. Good luck in future.

All of this due to a 7 foot Vagina who can't play with out sucking on his mom's teet pre and post game.

Thank God for 2016

So many contradicting stories:

Gilbert is afraid LeBron might leave so he decides to sit on his hands??

The assumption here is that Griffin wanted to part with Love and not Kyrie and Gilbert is afraid he might be left with just Kyrie in 2018? This man gambled big money to bring a championship to Cleveland so why the sudden cold feet

Like many have said, this goes deeper than that with the contract talks stretching this far.

I think it's not just that he will be left with just Kyrie. He will be left with TT at 17 million, JR at 15 million, and RJ at 2.6 million. Kyrie will be going into a contract year with nothing to help convince him to stay. Love is an asset and if he is traded for Butler it's another asset. If after LeBron opts out, you could roll with Kyrie, Love/Butler, and maybe convince a star to come here.

If you keep Love and trade for Melo, TTs and RJs contract are most likely off the books. That leaves Jr, Kyrie, and Love at 59 million with the cap at 103 million. Two stars and JR to build off of and 44 million in cap space. Don't dump TT and you don't have room for a max player.

If we keep the current roster and swap Love for George. George and LBJ leave, cap room would go up by 7 million but just Kyrie, no assets, TT, and JR to start a rebuild.

I'm not sure what kind of contract Gilbert now offers Korver but if it's not a discounted team friendly one, I imagine we will be offering him a one year contract. I dont think we want a 37 year old Korver making 14 million to try to get off our books.

Stories will always contradict if you don't distinguish good sources of information from bad ones. I wasn't terribly surprised by Griffin leaving, and without another job lined up at that. The hints were always there since last offseason, the evidence is still present. That's said, the loss for the franchise is about to be overblown in the national media... the same group of storytellers who claimed LeBron was the real GM anyway. Enjoy sifting the sand for Golden nuggets, everyone. Lots of bullshit out there.

So then, what IS the true picture?
