2019 Series #31 | Indians vs. Tigers | July 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Think this is a bit premature writing off Zimmer and penciling in Naquin and Daniel Johnson as long term answers. Zimmer missing such a long, extended time during a critical part of his development is kind of devastating. IF Zimmer can ever stay healthy and IF he can figure out his strikeout issues, I think he has the highest ceiling of any of these guys. Again though, that is a massive if.

Johnson looks very promising and I am high on him, but he is yet to take an MLB AB. Zimmer looked great in AAA before his call up in 2017.

Naquin, for as well as he is playing, is a flawed player who has had his own issues staying on the field for large stretches of time.

Zimmer I wasn't sure if he was ready or not when he got called up, but he did bring an energy this team needed at the end of the day. To bad he cannot stay healthy since right now he is feeling like Sizemore to me. If healthy can play well, but he has a low probability of a long career.

Naquin to me looks way more mature in the boxers box. He needs to take more walks, but he hasn't been striking out as much as he did in the past either. He is looking for his pitch and is willing to go the other way with the ball. I mean a good portion of his doubles are the other way. His barrell % is at 10% (better than his rookie season) plus his exit velocity and launch angles are what you are looking for as well. I think he has truly turn the corner and become at least a respectable platoon guy. (seems to also have a very good approach when stuck facing a lefty this year as well)

Just love the way Naquin is punching the ball to left on a regular basis. He started doing that last year then went down with an injury. He also is laying off more of the high heat. Like where he is at this year.

I have been anxiously waiting for that guys monthly Jose Ramirez update. I havent seen him lately.......strange. Cavsneedtowin i think. You ok man?

Someone just posted Jose’s numbers since 6/12 and it looks good — if that’s the info about which you’re inquiring.

It was like Jose shot his dog or something. I dont think i have ever seen a person have an obsession over one player like that. It was not normal, to say the least.

Kluber's a flash in the pan.

My favorite one was how many people hated Carlos Santana during his time here because of his low batting average.

Walks are not as good as singles bc they dont move baserunners multiple bases and they are proven not to create as much excitement with the crowd or team. You cant measure excitement with a statistic but its legitimate.

I once had a conversation with Frank Viola about it at spring training.

Jose Ramirez last saw his BA below .200 on June 12th.

Since then:

25 G, .316/.367/.561, 8 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 9 BB, 8 K.

Not a coincidence that the Indians are now 20-5 in that stretch. He's getting closer...
POWER LEVEL OVER 9000!!!

I think just about every player except Lindor got bashed on here, some deserving, some not. The team deserved to be bashed early on though, it was putrid baseball all around.

Guys like Naquin, Roberto, Bauers was wrote off the most a time or two, Roberto more so last season, but he proved more ABs equals consistency. Naquin is proving EVERYONE wrong. Don't even say you believed in this kind of play from him. His defense and offense has been stellar. Keep him down the order because if isn't broke, don't fix it.

I'm guilty of Bauers. I was pro-adding a proven hitter to mix in the lineup and take his spot.

I love this team though, the only guy that can go is Trevor. If we can get a young bat that is. Dodgers could be interested and they're loaded.

He’s actually going oppo way less this year. That’s likely why he’s been hitting for more power.

Btw, just to add to the Jensen Lewis hate. Yesterday, during the pre-game, he commented on Trevor May's HR he surrendered, saying basically "Dude, you're up 0-2 in the count, stop throwing a breaking ball when you can throw 98 mph."

I wanted to reach through the TV and punch that smug idiot. Like, where does he get off telling other relievers how to do their job... especially when the take he has is stupid to begin with? Jensen, you were a shitty major league pitcher who never accomplished anything. You only played 4 years in the majors. You weren't talented, you weren't intelligent, and you weren't around long enough to have veteran insight to pass down to others.

I have no problem with commentators who don't have any credentials. They're definitely not required for the job and don't usually add anything. But if you're going to talk down to other professional athletes based on your credentials that you don't even have? That makes you an asshole.

I'd love for the fans to start getting on him in person. He's already shown he can't take it.

He was right, quite honestly.

If the take is "you can't hang a breaking ball over the plate when you're up 0-2" I could respect it.

When the take is "You threw two fastballs, got up 0-2, you can't throw a breaking ball now" I strongly disagree. I know hitters nowadays might sit breaking ball when the pitcher is ahead and they have two strikes, but it's still a completely viable strategy to try and change eye level, speed, etc.
