2019 Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think you are underestimating how hard it is to win. Especially when we will be doing a shadow tank.

I think they addressed some of the worst weaknesses. If they only win 25 games it means Cedi, Collin, and Ante did nothing to improve, and none of the rookies are any good.

We gave a lot of minutes to non-NBA players last year. The team is actually sort of deep this year, and there are more than 10 guys that deserve minutes. IF Beilein is worth anything, he should be able to break 25.

25 means we are still the worst defense in history. Remember that post allstar, the offense was respectable. Injuries were some of the worst I have ever seen last year. So, yeah another injury riddled season could do it, but with average health I would expect 25 wins to mean basically none of the things we are hoping for come to pass.

I think we will get around 22/23 wins, we will tank.. we pretty much have to given our pick situation

I see the first pre season game is against San Lorenzo de Almagro, Argentina, at home next Monday at 6pm on FSO. In case anybody want to know.
Regarding wins, so many unknowns, but I'll guess around 30.
What I really want is to see one of these guys demonstrate that they got something special, that we can hang some hope on. And durability too as we all know if you aint there you ain't contributing.
Sexton looked much improved thru his first season. I expect good and even more improved play from him.

I think the best thing Koby can do at the trade deadline would be to find a way to require our 1st round pick. It would show confidence in the team and coaching staff. It would remove any tanking questions that don't set a good tone for any team culture they are trying to create.

Pelicans have a legitimate shot at a playoff seed and I'm fairly certain Griff wants to push for it as well. They are one Favors or Okafor injury away from needing TT to protect Zion.

There's a difference between a 19-year-old rookie being "good" and actually adding wins, especially at the PG position. Kyrie was the greatest teenage PG of all time, and that Cavs team still managed just 21 wins.

Cavs are definitely planning to get a top 10, if not top 5 pick. We want to give ourselves a 10% or better shot at the top 2 again this year.

Team will be exciting lotta raw young talent, probably score a lot of points but defensively its going to be really bad.

I thought Darius was supposed to be taller than Sexton, but he isn't. Explain? With this team we are going to need a great shot blocker. Wonder what our options will be at the draft.

Yeah for sure. I think this team is better than that team, but it is only my opinion. Kyrie was the best player on that team. Garland is not the best player on this team even if he replicates Kyrie's rookie season.

I think the talent level is closer to the 33 win 2014 team. Av was the 2nd best player on that team and Jamison was in his last year and was obviously done.

I'm not counting TT because he was on that roster, but which of these guys crack the rotation? Do any of them start? Av Might

Daniel Gibson
Alonzo Gee
Anthony Parker
AV
Luke Walton
Ramon Sessions
Antawn Jamison

You can make arguments for Antawn and Parker, but this was easily the worst season of both of their careers. Anderson was great, and I think he and Kyrie were the #1 and #2 players in whatever order.

Love >>>Antwan
TT>Himself at 20, question is whether he is better than AV that year
Sexton>Anthony Parker
Cedi>Gee
Nance>Walton
Clarkson>Ramon Sessions

The unknowns are how does Garland compare to Kyrie. I think he could have a good year, but it would hard to beat Kyrie, so I would say

Garland<Kyrie but it might be closer than we think now. Apparently his playmaking and ballhandling have been underrated.

The other unknown is Byron Scott vs Beilein, but I am taking Beilein right now.

The year before Kyrie they had the same record as last years Cavs. That 2010 team was so so bad. Lost 25 games in a row. Even though the end result was the same, I think the 2010 team was worse than last years team.

Yeha they look exactly the same height

I think a lot of your comparisons here are pretty optimistic. Outside of Love and Nance, no one on this roster has shown the ability to play above-replacement-level basketball in the last two seasons*. And Love and Nance are both injury risks. There's always this hype based on offseason workouts that we finally have the perfect coaching staff, our veterans are all adding new skills and in the best shape of their lives, our young guys are poised to make big leaps, and our rookies are going to vastly exceed expectations. But it rarely plays out like that. I'm not going to pencil in all these improvements until we actually see them in action.

*EDIT: If you want to be picky, I suppose Henson was above replacement level in 2017-18. But I don't think that really changes the picture.

Which of those old guys were above replacement tho?

I also think expecting younger guys to get better under a better coach makes more sense than them repeating the year as the worst defense of all time.
