Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yea, like Pittsburgh and Seattle having top 3 defenses and carrying the offense the entire year.

People putting way too much responsibility on 2nd year Quarterback. If he's gotta be the star of the team, then the team isn't ready to win.

And one looks at the defensive personnel in Seattle (who were supposedly on a down year according to most experts before the season) and PIT and sees that the Browns are quite competitive in that regard.

Could it be the Browns D is being that poorly mismanaged?

In Ben Roethlisbergers 3rd year he threw 18 TDs and 23 INTs. And that's on a team that didnt throw much. Aaron Rodgers didnt even start till like year 4.

Like...expecting Baker to be a franchise QB this soon is.. Just not fair. Expecting him to overcome coaching is damn near impossible. Lamar Jackson and Mahomes have future HOF coaches. Coaches that have proven themselves with QB after QB.

Baker Mayfield started with...Hue Jackson. A coach who has proven himself an absolute failure over and over. And now...Freddie Kitchens.

Pig Pen's 3rd year, he had just gone over a Harley and through a car windshield without a helmet, and also had an unrelated appendectomy. Not to mention you can't compare 2006 stats to today.

Rodgers sat behind one of the greatest/one of the guys we all hope Baker to be. (minus the painkiller popping and the sexting dick pics to women other than his wife.)

That said, #6 still wasn't really the problem Sunday. And it was actually our defense's fault that he looked like he got outplayed by a nobody, per footballoutsiders opponent adjustments.

Most of the few big plays Mayfield had against Denver came on Cleveland's half of the field. Once crossing the 50, he went 14-of-24 for 104 yards with a 10-yard DPI, one sack, and one touchdown.

The Broncos averaged 8.8 yards after the catch on Allen's completions this week, second only to Kyler Murray (11.6).

Baker was one of the best when not pressured last year, among one of the best in the NFL.

What changed? I understand Freddie is still here but their play calling is still piss poor and their designs are not taking advantage on what Baker is at his best. There sheer ignorance on how much better this team is in 12 sets rather than 11 is mindblowing.

I also feel like maybe Baker is carrying an injury that he isn't telling someone as well.

The problem is those stats are skewed thanks to stoned hand receivers. This whole season has been a wash. Baker is going to get another shot with a new coach
I would never have thought we'd be two years into Baker Mayfield and already talking about his future 3rd head coach....

We're going to do just enough to give up on him then he'll sign with the Patriots and finish as a HOF'er.

Oh come on. Baker proved last year he has a pretty high ceiling. Baker deserves a fair amount of blame but lack of coaching and system that fits him is also a major problem this year.

I don’t see the intangibles. He’s slow on his feet. Kinda short and it seems to be effecting him.

The defenses are pressuring him more this year and he struggles with that. Accuracy under pressure is another issue.

His deficiencies are on display for everyone to see this year. We’re 8 games into this thing and regressing.

He was good under pressure last year

His height is not the reason he has been struggling. And it didn’t hold him back last year. And it doesn’t hold back (insert laundry list of QBs shorter than Mayfield than have experienced success). That’s just such a lazy argument at this point.

He showed his ceiling last year. It ain’t low buddy boy

It’s lower than a Pygmy hookers hut.

I love how “its a lazy argument” is always thrown around.

I’m sure your key strokes were fierce and strong like bull.

What exactly about my response invoked a keyboard warrior response from you?

if you think height is the reason Baker Mayfield has been struggling honestly it’s not worth even discussing because we are never going to agree. I’ll PM you my address so we can fist fight
