2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know where else to put this, but it's been on my mind and I don't want to create another thread, but does anyone else think Dolan is either selling or moving the team when their lease is up with the 2023 season?

At the moment nothing is confirmed with that, but I think in due time the Dolans are looking from moving on from being at least majority owners. It’s not something that will happen tomorrow but from reading rumors and what people have posted on here earlier, it sounds like sooner rather than later the Dolans want to slowly step down as majority owners but they have to find the right buyer who will keep certain things in place like keeping the team in Cleveland.

I am not against bringing back Puig at the end of the day, but at the moment it’s hard to believe his advisers want less than a 2-3 year contract which i know Cleveland only will offer a single season plus with as many OFs as we have, we may have to release/trade one if we sign Puig, which isn’t a good long term plan. The question is how much will Puig improve this roster over who we have?

At this point, I would be stunned if any team offers Puig a 2 or 3 year contract.

I cannot say I disagree with you honestly, but he will end up signing late because what his team wants and what teams are offering aren’t the same. So I would put money on a one year deal but he won’t sign until the end of this month probably.

My biggest question is who would we cut to sign Puig?

I would think one of Andrew Velasquez, Jean Carlos Mejia or Sam Hentges would be the odd man out to make room for Puig on the 40 man roster. One possibility may be to DFA Greg Allen, as his already underwhelming production at the plate has only regressed in recent seasons. With one minor league option remaining though, they may want to hold onto him for depth.

I have a hunch Velasquez and Hentges will definitely not get cut. Every single other team out there would take Hentges in a heartbeat plus we lack lefties in the organization anyways.

I was thinking maybe one of the bullpen arms we could sneak to the minors

I'd personally cut Greg Allen if it meant we got Puig back on an affordable deal.

I really don't think Allen is that great, he's already 27 years old which seems crazy, and we just got DeShields back for Kluber who is likely going to fit his exact role next season. Seems to be the odd man out.

Can't retroactively take away the parade.

Would be much more comforting if MLB announced additional MLB personnel in the team replay booth to help prevent cheating like this from occurring.

Haven't really seen much on that yet.

Feel like it should have been steeper as well.
But cheating to win the world series only works with Elite roster talent. White Sox couldn't cheat their way to a title last year.
The loss of the picks will reduce the pipeline of future talent for the future roster or more immediate trades.
Still, should have been harsher
