Kareem Hunt: One Pissed Off Runner!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some of you want him gone because of weed?

Am I reading this right?

The weed is not the issue, the issue is that Kareem should know that he is on a zero tolerance plan and he cannot even follow that. If he gets out of this, then when will he mess up again because he is not taking this seriously.

Quite the assumption of affluence for a guy who had almost no support system growing-up. He should be smarter, yes, but let's not pretend that rational logic was something he was being taught on a daily basis...

Didn't mean to insinuate that he has or SHOULD have that type of support system.

I am just saying that he already has a history with the law, so you'd think if he was serious about getting his career back on track, having an advisor on the law would've been made a priority.

This would hurt a lot more if we didn't have a better RB on the roster already. Time to move on and draft a RB to be our backup. Hunt is clearly not someone we can rely on going forward.

Unless he was high?

There were no indications he was high at the time. Nothing in the video to indicate he was high. He's an idiot, sure. But we shouldn't be throwing DUI's into his wrap sheet when there's no evidence of it.

Marijuana being in the car does not mean he was operating the vehicle under the influence of marijuana.

Yep, nor does testing positive for THC on a drug test mean we was operating it while stoned. He should've just kept his mouth shut.

There are a few things that he's done or not done that have me questioning whether or not it's a question of prioritizing or being serious. I could have a bias on his side here, though, as I personally just have a soft-spot for people raised by addicts....

I would agree if the CBA wasn't up at the end of 2020. Weed will be less of an issue going forward, I posted an article earlier how the NFL is already willing to reduce the punishment or remove it completely in the next CBA.

They need to draft another RB regardless because they clearly need an upgrade over Hillard. I'd wait to see what the punishment is for Hunt and evaluate it at that point. If it's a couple game suspension then I'd keep him around, we aren't going to stumble on to 2 RBs to shore up our depth especially when we have to find another good pass catching RB.

But it's not about the weed to me. I smoke weed all the time.

It's about the fact that a guy who is already on a short leash for alcohol related issues is driving around with weed and an open bottle of liquor in his car. This is a guy who makes bad decisions and, more importantly, clearly does not learn from his mistakes.

Beyond that, this is a guy we clearly can't trust. And that, to me, is the kicker. We can't rely on this guy to stay on the field, so we need to get him the fuck off the roster and replace him with someone we can rely on.

If we have the depth to cut him then do so when the punishment is set and we know we can live without him. If they cut Hunt, they are one injury away from Hillard or unknown RBs from starting. Hunt has the ability to be trusted on the field if we need him.

Drafting someone isn't a sure bet. I haven't looked at the free agent list but again they will need to find and sign a replacement before letting Hunt go.

What sucks about all of this is we traded away one of the better #2 RBs in Duke and the lack of a good pass catching RB for the first 8 game contributed to this shitty season. I'm all for finding a replacement for Hunt but they should make sure that player is up for the task before they shot themselves in the foot again. What I'm saying is they shouldn't jump the gun because they don't have the necessary talent to do so at this time.

Respectfully, I wholly disagree.

There are times where a person's actions should prompt discipline in order to put them back on track... This just feels different. He may need real help.

The organization needs to exhaust some resources in counseling, mental health treatment, and substance abuse before they just cut bait and give up on Kareem, the human being (football aside).

Delonte West needs to serve as a sad example of what happens when people around you conflate mental illness with a bad attitude. Dismissing mental illness as athletes who "just don't get it," is - at best - an oversimplification of what we're witnessing.

If they rely on Hunt, he's one bad day away from Hillard/Unknown RB.

You cannot trust that Hunt has the ability to be on the field when you need him. He's Josh Gordon.

In an ideal world, you would love to keep Kareem, but the guy is way too much of a risk and, simply put, the Browns need reliability at all costs.
