R.I.P Kobe Bryant

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think it's that simple.

I think it's absolutely possible that she was not consenting but he thought she was. I think a very high percentage of rape victims orgasm. So even if they're saying no, it looks like it's a no no no, do it kind of thing.

Mmm...if we're throwing around baseless speculation, I'm gonna say an even higher percentage of rapists get turned on when their victims resist, and then keep going against their better judgement. Would you disagree?

Not saying this to vilify Kobe, as I do believe in redemption, and I think he helped many, many more people in his life than he hurt. But I don't think very many rape cases are simple misunderstandings.

I'm not saying probable, just possible. O idea what happened. But sadists do get turned on with power play which is what this would have presented as. It still doesn't mean he knew or didn't know she was being serious or not. I'm not sure that rape is a legitimate turn on as it is about dominance but there certainly is overlap there.

I'll try to track down the statistic, as valid as anyone could take that sort of Stat, but I remember not believing it until I saw it.

It's worth noting that Bryant initially lied to police about even having sex with her. When informed that the accuser had made an allegation of sexual assault against him, he told the officers, “Is there any way I can settle this whatever it is, I mean…if my wife found out that anybody made any type of allegations against me, she would be infuriated.” It wasn't until Bryant was told by police that the accuser had submitted to a physical exam and they’d taken semen and blood evidence from her person that he admitted they even had sex.

But to me, this is the most damning piece.

When the officers asked Bryant whether she said no or resisted, Bryant replied, “OK. I’m thinking, I’m thinking, I’m thinking. I’m trying to think of the conversation we had.”

I don't like having to make these posts, because I don't think much of my opinion on these matters...

Losing anyone so early in life sucks, especially if they hadn't turn 50. It's been a miserable past 6 months... losing Fred, then David Stern, and now the most iconic player the past 20 years or so. He wasn't perfect, but he really tried to set an example after making previous mistakes, just like Jordan. Actually, because Kobe was so similar in play style, I had confidence that if Jordan were to play in today's era, he'd still be a force to be reckoned with.

Really though... there's been some bad memories of players being lost to life that I can't shake that awful feeling. Losing Bobby Phills to that awful car accident while racing. Losing Eddie Griffin to a car crash on railroad tracks. But Kobe had a memorable career. It's much closer to when Wilt had that heart attack, but at least Wilt was in his 60s.

I really hope I don't have to bear witness to anymore of these tragedies for quite a while. Because it reminds me of how short life really can be. Life is a valuable thing. The way that Bryant went leaves a bad taste in my mouth... I really hope I don't have to post a message like this for a long while... I'll miss Kobe and will not forget the legacy he gave us. I'm certain that if LeBron WERE to face him in 2009 in the Finals, the Lakers would've won.

Um, Eddie Griffin drove his car into a train on purpose to suicide. Wouldn’t exactly call that losing someone to a car crash....

He was drunk. It's not a fond memory, but it still happened. The point is how many of these celebrities have such short lives. I only gave examples from basketball (from recent memory). I hate hearing about these all the same.

Since the assault thing is being brought up...

There’s a pretty good case that she wasn’t assaulted.

Not really. She was physically injured and told multiple people about it right away. She was bleeding, had choke marks on her neck, went to the hospital, told a friend right away and her family the next morning. Not a “had fun but changed my mind” situation.

When we traded for Ben Wallace Delonte West Joe Smith and Wally Szczerbiak I believed we were going to beat the Boston Celtics. When we fell just short I was ok with it and thought next time.

The following season everyone thought I was crazy when I said if we run into Orlando we are going to lose. I campaigned for us to trade Wally Szczerbiak for Shaquille O'Neal at the trade deadline. I cried like a little b**** when it didn't happen. I knew in my heart that if we are going beat LA or Orlando it was going to take a big body to neutralize Andrew bynum or Dwight Howard.

Kevin Garnett got hurt The following season and I was rooting for Boston to win so bad vs Orlando. It was like my worst nightmare coming true. I believe if we would of traded Wally Szczerbiak for Shaq we would have smoked Orlando and dominated that LA series.

People tend to forget that Boston team that we went 7 (very close) game series with beat LA 4-2 in the finals. Including game 6 were LA got beat 131-92 with an injured Andrew bynum.

If we played Boston I would of rather had Ben Wallace. If we played LA or Orlando I would rather of had Shaq. We had a chance to have both and instead we waited till the offseason and swapped one for the other.
