A terrible roster, a long rebuild and we can a guy after months. That just isn't having a plan, as an organization.
The reasons you hired someone like Belein 6 months ago cannot have realistically changed to the point where it should end. I suppose it is being framed as him possibly walking away but still, in a good organization, someone would be reminding him why he took the job, reminding him of the timeline in place, reminding him of a slew of other things to try to get him back on board the ship.
If that isn't happening, it honestly strikes me as terrible leadership and a lack of a plan / strategic vision. I really think the last straw for Belein was probably keeping the TT's and Love's of the world around. If players / agents / or anyone associated with them are actively sabotaging the guy you brought in to develop the players and culture, then you get rid of them. The fact that the FO didn't prioritize ushering those guys out, even for nothing, tells you all you need to know IMO. We are not picking sides with a roster that will get us nowhere. The easiest time to take a coaches side is when the players aren't good or are not in any of your long term plans....the fact that we can't even do that should be incredibly worrisome IMO. We have so little leadership that we can't even navigate player and coach dynamics that are on the easy end of the spectrum. Imagine if we had hard problems.
