Me, too.

“I think the veterans on that team were not leaders. And I think the young guys on that team who can’t play think they are better than they are and they tried to get that man fired. I’m so disgusted by those players trying to get that man fired.”

Barkley went on to question how players on a 14-40 team can complain about long practices and film sessions. It's not like they're 40-14 and are the defending NBA Champions. Barkley ended up referring to the Cavaliers' players as "a bunch of damn losers".

They actually went out of their way to play a lot of songs with the word "thug" in them in Beilein's presence. If they weren't satisfied with his apology they should have talked to him man-to-man about it rather than take a passive-aggressive approach. And the team leaders, who Barkley accused of not leading, should have put a stop to it.

I get the players felt he disrespected them by treating them like college players instead of professionals. But they should have realized this is the only way he knows how to coach after 40 years of college coaching. They should have worked with him and made positive suggestions. Or talked to Bickerstaff and asked him to speak with Beilein as a former NBA head coach. I also think Bickerstaff should have kept his finger on the pulse of the team and spoken early and often with Beilein about the players' issues with his coaching style.

But in the end I suppose it was only a matter of time, so the sooner the organization moves on the better. At least they're not paying him a head coach's salary for three more years while he coaches in college. I read he may be helping with scouting college players for the draft, which seems to be right down his alley (although we only have one pick).

I still for the life of me cannot understand how people didn't realize this was doomed to fail. Literally every single thing that I questioned about his fit came to fruition. If some random pothead on a Cavs forum can see it, how in the hell can't people that makes millions to make these decisions see it too?

You know what? I think these FO people do see these things but are so determined for something else to work that they take the risk.
The Cavs should have just kept Drew in place and stop the musical chairs. You can't keep trying to put a certain type of coach in place until the young players get more experienced..and that is if they are the team for long.
Get a HC in place and be done with it.

No way in hell a 14-40 team should not wanna watch film or skip practices

no way a coach should be scheduling ANYTHING on Xmas, and should be treating grown men like college kids

Judging by their behavior we don’t have any grown men on this team.

I know it was broadcast around the Cavs Nation that Beilien was absolutely Altman's call, pick, idea, etc.. but was it? Everything points to Gilbert.
* wins the initial presser (so f'ing important to that guy)
* Michigan
* successful Michigan college coach
* after stating the org was looking for a young coach, player development guy with G-League experience... {screeeeech} Beilien..

Going off Jason Lloyds comments in his article on the Athletic, Altman not taking questions after the coach stepped down looks like a lack of leadership.. I wonder if it's Gilbert allowing cover for his stupid decision in the first place though. You know Altman can't go out there and say, "well, the owner demanded I hire the guy I didn't want, so..."

I remember that first presser with Gilbert when he bought the team.. "Spurs east, culture, culture, culture" The team is a dumpster fire and it starts with the owner. I now fully understand what it's like to be a Suns or Kings fan.

I think we have been given glimpses of the power structure of the Cavs here and there. It seems more democratic than how most perceive it. Griff has talked about how they came to the decision of drafting Bennett and that seem like Grant was out voted by the rest of the front office on him. Koby recently talked about how they voted on trading for Drummond and he said everyone was on board with it.

It wouldn't surprise me that they brought Beilein in because Gansley lobbied for it and was able to sway everyone that it was a good idea. Sometimes when there isn't multiple candidates that have support and the majority of people are undecided, a single person can sway the whole group easily. I believe that's what happen with Beilein and I think it probably happen with drafting Bennett too. I've always thought Mike Brown was the one who pushed for Bennett because he said he watched Bennett at UNLV in the year he wasn't coaching.

Here is an article with the Mike Brown and Bennett stuff with some Griff quotes if anyone wants to rehash that

On the other hand, if your boss makes you put in 80 hrs when the job can be done in 40, you will screw off for half the time and productivity will suffer. You need to make judicial use of your time. They reportedly spent an entire day of training camp on chest passes. They spent half the wine and gold scrimmage doing college drills for the fans who wanted to see a game.

He should have deferred more to the assistants on how they should spend their time, so that it would not be so alien and seemingly juvenile to professional players.

Maybe Bickerstaff bought in and the players didn't. I am super worried about the fact that Bickerstaff has barely been able to get the guys to play any better defense than last year.

So,because there's a few white players on the team it absolves him for using the word in a locker room full of black men....makes perfect sense.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
atleast the coach tried, if this is true then I’m extremely disappointed in kevin and Tristan, it sounds like they were cancers and undermined Neil one instead of mediators and positive influencers (which was the bare minimum I would expect of vets that should understand the situation). Clearly, they were upset with their situation and decided to be immature as fuck. Beilein is 10x the man they’ll ever be. And FWIW I think the thugs statement being taken offensively says way more about our country and society then Beilein being racist, because it was obviously not his intention.

Bickerstaff at the least is a seasoned NBA coach. He won’t do dumb shit like THAT. But there’s a reason he’s been here so long and NEVER been considered for the job
