All true, but I doubt very many would care much about results from 100 years ago.
I feel the people who know that history don’t mind the Spiders name but ESPN would have a field day for a lifetime! Bastards!

ESPN will try to find a way to have a field day with the Cleveland team regardless of their name. MLB Network isn't as bad, but most of them were players and we do have an Indians fan (Chris Rose) and Sean Casey came up with the Indians (though we traded him for Burba and he was a solid player was the Reds).

Not that it matters at all now, but I thought the Burba/Casey swap was a good one for both sides. Burba was pretty darned good for a strong Tribe squad of the era.

It made a ton of sense cause we had Thome at 1st. I just never thought Burba was that great, but he did what we needed him to do.

I think it would be hilarious if the Dolans came out and just said after a careful review the team name will remain. The ruling on the field stands. Society will be charged a timeout.

I don't want a name change at all, but life is life.

What would be your pick the new name if you had to choose something?

Indians Burba was basically mid-career Nagy.

Which means he was pretty comparable in most categories and given that the Indians were pretty damn good hitting teams, they were both eating innings and winning 15 games a year.

Every team needs that and back then when everyone was juicing those guys were great.

"Great" - no. ...but he threw around 200 good innings/year over his tenure, and came up big in the playoffs a few times. Good pitching was not easy to come by for the Tribe in that high run scoring era. For various reasons I found him gritty and likable in his demeanor on and off the field.

Yep -- gave us 4 good years through his early 30's.

I'll be honest, I really don't believe the Dolans want the Indians to leave Cleveland at all. So I dont think the Indians will leave Cleveland as long as they own them and a good probability if they do sell, there will be some type of agreement not to move the Indians.

Now if any teams will move, it will be Oakland or Tampa. Also there is a rumor of a place like Portland trying to get a team. Its very possible MLB could expand or move both teams into a new area.
Raleigh has a group too
