I think people tend to overanalyze shooting motions too much... If it's repeatable, consistent and productive, there's a not a need to change it or be concerned... Guys shoot a bunch of different ways and find success in doing so... To me, the feet and body are more important than the shooting motion/mechanics itself...
If anything, I think some of those unorthodox releases are harder to guard because guys are not used to seeing it and at times he's almost hiding the ball until the release...
If you're really committed to seeing Garland/Sexton through, Vassell is probably an even better fit than Okoro given his size, length, shooting and defensive ability, all which outweigh Okoro's...
One thing to consider with Okoro, and one that I overlooked, is you're rolling out three undersized players in Okoro, Sexton and Garland at their position...
