2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I found this in The Athletic. I don't know if this information has come out yet but I haven't seen it.

Porter’s mother provided the receipt for the firearm police found when Porter wrecked his car in the middle of the night a few weeks back, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. The serial code on the weapon matched the receipt, and the car was the one Porter bought for his mother, Ayanna Dennise Porter, after turning pro. Porter’s mother has her concealed carry permit and testified in front of a grand jury that she forgot the gun was in the car and failed to tell Porter it was there.

So that's why the gun charge was dismissed. I wonder if it was her marijuana, too.

Can't Porter afford to buy himself a car?

Smoking marijuana is pretty widespread in the NBA and they stopped testing.

He was returning form working out in NY. So, he might have wanted her SUV on a long trip. Dunno what his normal car is, but if it is a cooler sportscar or something might make sense.

Every time I read about this, the lyrics to "still fly" rattle around in my head.

Lot of armchair expert stuff going on, but just viewing it from a corporate standpoint, if the positives of KPJ outweigh the negatives, the Cavs should keep him on the roster and try to help him.

If a way to get more valuable assets for him emerges or his behavior disrupts the team, then you move on.

As a fan, I would love for him to figure it out. His talent is immense and he really improved towards the end of last season. I guess we’ll see what happens.

If that is really her car, I don't see why people are so skeptical of this. I get it is dumb to have a loaded gun in the car if it is illegal, but I am not a gun guy and I was honestly surprised this is a law.

If you have a concealed carry license can you have it loaded on your body while you drive? You can in California.

You can have a concealed carry permit and take a gun onto a college campus or into a school in Ohio. That seems worse to me than carrying a loaded gun in the car.

Because traffic stops are such dangerous situations for police the law is probably a lot more sensitive to loaded guns in cards.

Lots of boardroom chair analysis going on in this post.

Cool bro.

What's cool? In the past when I have seen novice posters waltz into a thread they weren't participating in, insult those who were, and then make a point that was already made as if it was new, they tend to get reprimanded or at least roasted for being rude. If you say it's cool, I guess it's cool.

I wasn’t making fun of any new posters. But cool overreaction. I have zero idea how you would infer that, but it seems like you do this every once in awhile when I post. Merry Christmas, bud.

You called us armchair experts, immediately anointed yourself as an expert, then made a point that had already been made. I compared you to a noob, because modelling that type of post seems beneath you as a mod. Your patronizing Merry Christmas says otherwise.

Blocking you so you don't have to worry about my overreactions.
