Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A few points... no doubt about it.. with the year Meadows had in 2020.. they are not overpaying the tribe. Meadows was a 4 WAR player in 2019.. and a negative WAR player in weird and oddball 2020.. I think he'd be the Indians best OF'er given the current situation..

So, while giving up Blake Snell and Meadows is a bunch.. it's not two overwhelming studs (it's one and it's Snell).. imho, Urias fills back nearly 90 % of what Snell brings while Keibert Ruiz along with the already acquired Zunino solves the Rays catching issues for the next half decade.. The Rays have more than enough OF'ers to fill what they'd lose with Meadows (e.g. Arozarena, Tsustugo, KK, Margo, etc)

As indicated.. the Tribe could ask for more from the Rays and could be rejected by the Rays but that wouldn't stop the deal.. Now, because the Dodgers are getting both Snell and Lindor.. they would be in a position to give up more to both the Indians and Rays.. Maybe add Pages or Knack to the Rays side of the deal.. McKinstry to the Indians....

This deal is now null and void lol

Though if Toronto signs Kim, that takes them out of the Lindor running. I hope the Padres win that one.

Your wish has been granted by Mr. Preller AKA the San Diego Santa Clause that comes 2 days later.

Just as a heads up its doubtful we have even hit starting "general population" vaccines till the middle of next year, much less "most of the population vaccinated". An article from a couple of days on CNN makes it seem like it may even be late summer before the general population starts to get vaccines(which represents a 3 months slip from just a month ago). In this case general population is going to be the vast majority of the US population (probably in the 250-275 million range). Things will speed up no doubt but that still means it will have taken 6-7 months to vaccinate under 25% of the population....

My guess is baseball with 100% attendance wont happen till 2022, however i would anticipate at least some fans next year (in fact its clear there is no reason there shouldnt be limited fans)
Assuming vaccines will work

to be sure, the demo for mlb is 70 y.o. non-urban caucasian males - they are in the front of the lines for the vaccine

With the Rays adding to their already bursting farm system.. and a need for an inexpensive, controllable SP.. how about:

Rays get: Zach Plesac RHSP and Gabriel Rodriguez 3B/SS

Indians get Austin Meadows OF, Shane McClanahan LHP, Xavier Edwards SS/2B, Cole Wilcox RHP and Blake Hunt C

Meadows can start immediately.. McClanahan may best begin in the pen but should be given every opportunity to become a starter. Wilcox, and Hunter are 2022 / 2023 guys.. Edwards can play right now.. but might be better suited as a mid/late spring call up..

Thoughts?

I’m tired of endless Lindor trade speculation.

Can you include a 64-year-old in that same demographic?

I could see the addition of a SP to bump the value in a trade, but all trades right now will focusing on cutting salary. Which certainly does not mean anyone named Francisco, Carlos or Chuck. Actually that means Plesac is almost certainly more valuable to the tribe as a player, not trade material.

I am hoping we end up with at least one excellent prospect for Lindor who for now, comes with a "player option" for 2022 in the form of a qualifying offer.

I am excited for an attempt at trying to fill as many spots on the ML team with internal talent right now, and 1-3 guys you aren't on the roster now. Expecting some growing pains, but maybe one of more of our yet-to-be players leaps forward in 2021. Stranger things have happened.

With this deal, the Indians add four players to the 40 Man Roster and a 2020 first round pick in Crow-Armstrong, who immediately becomes the best CF prospect in their system. Smith is the middle of the order bat this team desperately needs, while Rosario serves as a bridge at the SS position between Lindor and someone like Arias or Freeman. Ali Sanchez replaces Beau Taylor on the 40 man, and gives the organization much needed catching depth in the upper minor leagues. He also received big league experience last season. Szapucki projects either as a middle reliever or a back of the rotation starter, and is another LHP to add to the bullpen mix next season.

I don't understand the system that would value Carrasco and his contract significantly less than Lindor, Smith, and Armstrong. We're not talking about a run of the mill SP signed to an expensive contract. We're talking about a top 15 SP signed to a team friendly 3 yr deal with an option. Maybe there's a logical explanation. I have no interest in Smith who is a LHH that needs a platoon partner and is terrible defensively. I'd rather have Davis than Smith. I do like Szapuki and Rosario would be a very good stop gap that could generate some good value over the next year or 2. Crow-Armstrong is 18 and a long way off. I would send Lindor and one of Bauers/Bradley to the Mets for Davis, Rosario, Vientos, and Szapucki.

On a different note, I saw where the Dodgers are interested in LeMahieu. If they do sign him that would certainly help an Indians/Yankees deal for Lindor.

Dude, what are you talking about here?

Smith had a .900 OPS against LHP this year and has a .746 OPS vs. LHP for his MLB career.

He’s legit been lauded for his competency in hitting LHP.

I don't know why that site rates Carrasco so low but they do. He was just using the values from the site is all.

I am with @EdMonix11 on Smith, from the numbers, he isnt the best player against lefties, but he isn't the straight platoon either against them. His issue is his fielding not his bat. Davis at the end of the day isnt a whole lot better. The Indians dont need either guy at the end of the day.
