Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think we are all being a but unfair... Chang (25) deserves a real crack at playing in the Majors.. It's prospect fatigue. He will be a starter at some position for us next year.. Bauers (25) deserves a 2nd opportunity at some point as well, though I think Bradley (24/25) has him beat at 1st, so he'll have to excel or play in the outfield.

Mercado (26), takes DeShields place like DeShields took "his" place.... But he is definitely bubbly and likely a part timer.. Still gets a crack to play daily for now..

Bravo to Plutko (29)for lasting as a major leaguer this long.. But tick tick tick... I agree Plutko is likely the next to be jettisoned. Zimmer (28) probably gets another Spring Training for evaluation, but as of now I could see him DFA'd before real games are played in 2021.

My curiosity as to how someone like Gurriel or Frazier would shuffle the deck is getting the best of me.

With the advent of the start of the Covid-19 vaccine distribution and initial results, as amazing as this is, there is a chance now that we will be able to see games in person and a return to normalcy. The owners and players would both welcome this chance.. it's just flat out amazing that this has started when it has..

JUST FRIGGING AMAZING.. !!!!

Yes, amazing though suspect most of the population won’t be vaccinated till mid-year. Vaccinating 330 million is quite an expensive logistical nightmare.

Interesting response from someone named Dimelotitony regarding the latest update to the DJ LeMahieu status as a free agent......

Toronto [Blue Jays] are serious players. I can see them landing DJ & Tanaka. The Yankees will not go beyond 4 years and reports out of NY is his agent is seeking 5 years/$125 million. I can see the Yankees final offer 4 years/$92 million.

Yankees have a lot of holes. Even if DJ signs, the uncertainty with [Gleyber] Torres at Shortstop, Gio [Urshela’s} elbow, [Aaron] Hicks Elbow, [Giovanni] Stanton’s Health, & [Aaron] Judge’s Health. No certainty beyond Cole. [sic] as innings limits will be done on [Jordan] Montgomery, [Luis] Severino, Domingo German, and [Lil Deivi] Garcia. They [the NYY's] have their work cut out for them.

I still think in the end [the NYY's end up] with DJ. The Yankees know he will be 33 years old. He [DJ] has had a great two years with them at a bargain price, but, again, are you going to pay on past accomplishments. Players his age regress?

This is why the Yankees need to go out and get Lindor. You replace him with DJ in age, speed, defense, switch-hitter and work out a deal that is beneficial to both. And, either resign Tanaka or Odorizzi since they will have that extra cash if they dont resign DJ.

You pair up Lindor, Gio & Torres for years to come the defense becomes stronger

While it appears english isn't a "strong" suit, the sentiment is clear.. The NYY's would love to steal Francisco Lindor from the Indians.. if they can. It's a good thing the CLEFO uses a value system to determine what they feel is a player's worth & stick to it..

Thoughts?

I.D.K. I am guessing from the user name Dime lo Tito NY is an italian living in New York and may be a fan of tito's & the New York Yankees.. Anything more than that level of conjecture would be a flat out guess..

Just as a heads up its doubtful we have even hit starting "general population" vaccines till the middle of next year, much less "most of the population vaccinated". An article from a couple of days on CNN makes it seem like it may even be late summer before the general population starts to get vaccines(which represents a 3 months slip from just a month ago). In this case general population is going to be the vast majority of the US population (probably in the 250-275 million range). Things will speed up no doubt but that still means it will have taken 6-7 months to vaccinate under 25% of the population....

My guess is baseball with 100% attendance wont happen till 2022, however i would anticipate at least some fans next year (in fact its clear there is no reason there shouldnt be limited fans)

Agree with this.. the phases are outlined and, hopefully, will be effective..

A better pairing would be Urshela, Lindor and Jose Ramirez. Would be an unbelievable defense and offense, unlike any team could assemble.

Oh, it's gonna take forever to get to herd immunity. The vaccine is 2 step, and being largely untested based on current standards, we really won't know effectiveness until summer. Baseball shouldn't postpone but the sides need to come together on the cost cutting... Otherwise FOs need to take matters into their own hands and cut payroll. The Guardians are ahead of the curve on this one.

While there are many bad deals presented.. and many 10 - 17 player deals presented.. the one I gravitate back to each time is a three team deal posted by JoshL10 on December 4th with:

Rays get Keibert Ruiz (LAD) and Julio Urians (LAD)
Dodgers get Blake Snell (Rays) and Francisco Lindor (CLE)
Indians get Austin Meadows (Rays) and Josiah Gray (LAD)

A small change to this deal that the Tribe could/should request would be:

-the Rays Competitive Balance Lottery Draft Pick (projected to be # 33, overall in the June First Entry Draft) and/or
-Zach McKinstry for the LAD

...but wouldn't stop this deal if the Rays said no to this request. The request to the Dodgers would be much firmer or could be deemed to be a "deal breaker"..

Do you think the Rays would agree to this deal? Urias and Ruiz would be good players to target, but to give up Austin Meadows seems like a big ask. As an Indian's fan, I'd damn sure like to get Meadows and Gray for Lindor. If you told me that I could only get Meadows for Lindor I'd still do it everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Rays probably wouldn't.

A few points... no doubt about it.. with the year Meadows had in 2020.. they are not overpaying the tribe. Meadows was a 4 WAR player in 2019.. and a negative WAR player in weird and oddball 2020.. I think he'd be the Indians best OF'er given the current situation..

So, while giving up Blake Snell and Meadows is a bunch.. it's not two overwhelming studs (it's one and it's Snell).. imho, Urias fills back nearly 90 % of what Snell brings while Keibert Ruiz along with the already acquired Zunino solves the Rays catching issues for the next half decade.. The Rays have more than enough OF'ers to fill what they'd lose with Meadows (e.g. Arozarena, Tsustugo, KK, Margo, etc)

As indicated.. the Tribe could ask for more from the Rays and could be rejected by the Rays but that wouldn't stop the deal.. Now, because the Dodgers are getting both Snell and Lindor.. they would be in a position to give up more to both the Indians and Rays.. Maybe add Pages or Knack to the Rays side of the deal.. McKinstry to the Indians....
