His improvement on the defensive end is incredibly important. Seems like his improved strength has lead to more physicality, and that has been huge.
I'm still keeping an eye on his off-ball defense and transition defense. Parts of his game he's yet to care about.

However, we're so desperate for everything else he gives us, and I love his attitude.

He still can't really run the team and you can see how Darius helps when he is out. He's playing well, but he hurt his ankle again in the last minute of the 1st half.

He had a nice move tonight. Took away two defenders with a fake and ran up the baseline to lay it in.

And I see he broke the record.

21 pts, 4 assists, 3 boards, 1 steal, 1 block and 0 turnovers. Only shot 8-20, 3-7, but not a bad night overall. Needed a couple more shots to drop and legit 3 point shooters to set up. Hard to watch him keep getting Osman, Nance and McGee wide open 3s to miss.

I don't understand, why everyone else can score when his teammates pass the ball to them but when it comes to Sexton giving them the ball they have a hard time scoring....It's #1 reason, why Sexton's assist numbers are low.

He could be averaging 6 or 7 assists a game,if people scored when Sexton gave them the ball...imo

1. Can someone explain to me,why Cedi always waving Sexton off when he asked for the ball. The last time I check Sexton is our second reliable ball handler.

2. Why does his teammates have a hard time making shots when Sexton gives them the ball. I understand, Sexton is a ball dominate guard but he does try to get his assist up but his teammates keeps missing shots, especially the easy ones. Sexton should be averaging 6 or 7 assists,if they made their shots.

And,I agree shots will be missed but it's starting to be an issue. I noticed it last season. I just don't understand it.

Game is really slowing down for him. Assists don't show it but he sees the floor much better and throws much better passes this season. I don't know if he is purposely slowing the game down or he is less explosive this season, especailly with his recent minor injuries. I'm just wondering if he has some nagging injures/suboptimal shape or he tries to slow the game down on purpose, or it could be both.

I agree he would be getting a lot more assists if perhaps we didn't have so many injured scorers out. I'd think even if KLove was around, that would get Sexton 1 to 2 assists a game on average alone.

He's playing slower on offense, which is good. In the past he would just rush into the paint with no idea what he was going to do when he got there. He still does it on occasion, but he's playing more under control. He can still blow by his man when the time comes.

Also to add onto OptimusPrime observations. Playing with different pace will only help his offensive repertoire going forward, which should lead to continued increase in efficiencies as he mixes it up on defenses to get the best shot possible.

His vision has certainly improved, but seeing him at the point guard position with Garland out has shown me that Sexton still is nowhere close to being able to be a team's primary ball handler and distributor.

I think Sexton should be selfish tonight..It's the only way the Cavs going to beat the Grizzlies...imo

He has to keep getting the opportunity to grow as a PG though because it creates easier paths to build the roster and rotation out for the future. If Sexton and Garland can hold down all the PG duties for 48 minutes, it opens up more opportunities for the team to not have to play small.

You're right. I should clarify that I think with a proper team built, Sexton could be the smallest guy on the court for stretches of time. I think he's fine as a 'combo guard' in that respect and will continue to grow there.

My first post just meant that I don't think we're ever going to see him develop into a true 'point guard' that can start at and play the role of facilitator on a good team, and that's perfectly fine.
