Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #17 | Lakers @ Cavaliers | January 25, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs win this game with semi decent reffing. Some weird fucking calls in that game. Kuzma was smacking everyone and nothing, and Lebron was flopping non stop.

This, there were so many calls and non calls that all seemed to benefit the Lakers. Windler gets smashed into the basket stanchion and no call.

Over the final 12 minutes, James hit nine of his 10 shot attempts and outscored the Cavs by himself, 21-19.

“Pretty awesome,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “The shot-making was just ridiculous. Just one of those nights for the ages for him.” - Fedor

This was a very, very positive game for the Cavaliers when you consider they were down by three points with two minutes left despite:

1. Playing the team with the best record in the NBA that came in 9-0 on the road.

2. Playing their third game in four nights and on the second night of a back-to-back while the Lakers had a day off coming in.

3. Not having Love and Nance, our two best power forwards while having to play against the best power forward in the world.

4. The referees giving the Lakers so many breaks that Bickerstaff lost his voice screaming at them and after the game said the Cavs had to beat "the Lakers plus", referring to the refs.

5. LeBron having a "night for the ages", as Vogel described it. LeBron is 36 but if he had that game at 26 it still might have been his best game of the year. I mean, 46 points on 26 shots not to mention 8 assists? He either scored or assisted on 62-65 points in 38 minutes (depending on how many assists were 3-pointers).

One of LeBron's 3's was released with both feet inside the "C" at center court.

By the way, LeBron scored more than 46 points 18 times in his 11 years with the Cavaliers, or about one and one-half times per season. Yeah, this was not "LeBron being LeBron". This was a rare performance even for him.

Fortunately the rest of the Lakers were ice cold going 3-for-21 on 3's which kept the Cavs in the game, along with some great 3-point shooting from Cedi and Drummond's huge game. We needed Sexton to do better than 6-for-17 but he had to alter some shots to compensate for the Lakers' height. He also had four turnovers to lead the team.

Not much you can say. A vast improvement from the Boston shitfest and actually winnable. LeBron went Super LeBron at the end. Wild that in year 18 of his career, he's taking and making Steph Curry shots.

Cavs didn't quit, just turned the ball over in inconvenient spaces and got some weird officiating. With no Nance, they were within 1 score at the very end.

If I had complaints, it would be the usual suspects: Drummond with the Asspi Fingers at the rim, Drummond not passing to the right guy, Sexton not passing in time when the defense comes crashing in.

Good to see Windler. I think he's a much more confident player.

I really loved watching Cedi play last night. Highlight reel for the guy, for sure.

Cavs need another F.U. scorer. Maybe it'll be Garland, but I'd prefer it be from the off-ball guard or forward position. Damn that KPJ had to make a bag of dildos his asking price in such a short amount of time.

I have been saying this FOREVER! When the big guys grab a rebound the guards should up to them, clap their hands and say give me the ball! My HS and college coaches would cuss me when I ran up court leaving the bigs to handle the ball. I used to watch Magic and Zeke run and basically TAKE the ball of the big men’s hands after they grabbed a rebound.

I've seen Sexton and Garland ask for the ball. On top of that,Bickerstaff encourages Javale and Drummond to bring the ball up the court which makes no fucking sense because most of the turnovers are from them. Especially, from Drummond ass..

Oh man. I saw Sexton calling for it on a play where the ball was eventually turned over. He's rarely that demonstrative IMO. They shouldn't be bringing it up the court if they can help it.

Especially in crunch time. I mean, they just gave away their chance to win with turnovers. Collin had been pushing and was being successful running on them late in the game after they were tired.

I guess, we have to deal with it since JB have no problem with it. I find the whole thing so ridiculous that a center can demand the ball even though he's not the primary scorer on the team.

I would understand if it was Patrick Ewing demanding the ball.

I would understand if it was Shaq demanding the ball.

I would understand if it was Hakeem Olajuwon demanding the ball.

Andre Drummond shouldn't be demanding the ball like he's the primary scorer on this team. And,he shouldn't be getting the ball at the end of games either.

Bigs turning the ball over is a time-honored Cavs tradition, since the days of Omri “Ass-fingers” Caspii...

I think it is deferring to vets. That stretch with no guards poisoned the well.

No....not ASK for it! RUN UP AND DEMAND IT! Somebody has to be a leader on the floor and this team. And it starts with somebody calling people out and reminding them of their roles! “You’re the big ma, you got the rebound and did your job! Now give me the damn ball and let me do mine”

Drummond ain't that guy though. I would understand, if he had the same skills a Jokic. I find it hilarious that Drummond turnover the ball almost twice as much in Cleveland than in Detroit.

JB says he wants turnovers limited but continues to allow Drummond to bring the ball up the court and do his nonsense.

At,what point does JB say enough is enough and tell Drummond to stop it because it sure isn't helping the team at all.

Yeah I want Drummond handling the ball less and passing more specifically from inside instead of taking contested shots.

I don't mind his passing turnovers, but he should not be passing while on the move, because he should not have the ball on the move unless it is drive from the baseline or top of the key.

Do you guys remember that South Park episode, where Cartman’s mom hired Cesar Milan to get Cartman to behave? And Cartman got a good ZAP, every time he mouthed off?

That’s what I do, if I’m JB: I give Drummond on of them SHOCK COLLARS, and I ZAP him every time he puts the BALL on the floor. Heck, I zap him every time he even turns up-court and even THINKS about it.

Edit: The BALL on the floor. Not the DOG - the BALL!

I understand, what you're saying but do you really think a player that's almost 30 is going to listen to a bunch of guards that's in their early 20s.

Garland just turn 21 today and Sexton turned 22 three weeks ago.

It's the coaches job to tell Drummond to stop his bullshit especially when you have two young guards. This is the reason, why the Pistons traded him because he wants to act like he's Embiid or Jokic when he's not. He needs to be told rebound, defend and make your layups nothing more.

With that said,Sexton and Garland needs to tell Drummond to give them the ball but Bickerstaff needs to help them too because he's the one allowing it to happen.
