2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I haven't mentioned Cam Thomas much because he doesn't make any sense for the Cavs...but...wow is he an impressive scorer. He's basically a lock for 20 points every time he steps on the court.

Granted, I think Cade has a brighter future, but the hype around him as a consensus top guy and sure fire star reminds me of Harrison Barnes coming out.

His actual performance just doesn’t line up with the narrative.

I haven't paid attention to this season at all. This is my first time watching Mobley, and Evan looks good, but why isn't everyone talking about Isaiah too? From the first minute watching this game I could tell he was good just by the way he moves. 6'10" and plays like a guard. Does being a sophomore really knock him down that much?

Well, coming into this game he had only made 12 3’s all year and is just over 50% from the line.

If he were actually a knockdown shooter like he’s been tonight, he’s have more buzz.

As it stands, he’s Taylor Griffin playing with Blake.

Ah, well that makes sense then lol. I hadn't looked up his stats, but dude looks like a stud tonight, even if it's a little bit of an anomaly.

Mobley just feels like the one. Being developed as a 4 and paired with Allen actually seems like the perfect fit too. That combo could be devastating on both ends of the floor.

Mobley and Green are the best of this class. You fit them in no matter how

Wagner wasn't at his best tonight, but he got UP for that dunk at the end of the game. You just don't see that package of size, athleticism, and all-around skill very often.

I meant to post on him last night... he's fun to watch. He can flat fill it up which is impressive as a freshman (and considering he just went against a good team in Michigan)

His 23 ppg are the 5th most all time by a major conference freshman, behind Young, Beasley, Durant, and Fultz. And that includes a 0-point game where he twisted his ankle in the opening minutes and didn’t return, so really should be 24 ppg. He’s exceptional.

Yeah my son played against both of them in high school. My kid was a sophomore and the Mobleys were in their senior and junior years at Rancho Christian. They are both really good but Evan was always the one with more hype and had the smoother game from a young age (similar to Lamelo and Lonzo in that regard). Evan would miss games to be on U17 world cup teams, etc but Isaiah was never has highly regarded.
I really don't know if Isaiah has NBA skills for a big man though. There were a ton of bigs that played HS basketball in SoCal these past few years (Bagley, Ike Anigbogu, Jalen Hill, Cody Riley, TJ Leaf, the Mobleys, Shaq's kid, etc) and by far Evan was always the one that stood out skillwise.

I like Mobley, but wish I was more confident in his jumpshot. Seeing Ayton's shooting struggles reminds me that some bigs simply don't develop reliable 3-point shots, or take many years to develop one. If an Allen-Mobley frontcourt is gonna work offensively, it's gonna take more than just an occasional midrange jumper...one of them has to be able to step out and shoot 3's.

I understand those concerns, but I also think there's enough talent there to give it a shot.

If it starts to look like the combo is holding us back, you can stagger their minutes to an extent, and then look to deal one, but that's a long way off.

I guess I'm kinda traumatized by the Garland-Sexton situation of "oh, i guess we should've realized they wouldn't be a great fit, but now we're too paralyzed by indecision to un-fuck ourselves." It'd be so nice to draft a guy where we don't have to worry about fit at all.
