2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For those who doesn’t care about KPJ. Why do y’all keeping coming in here trying to one up? When he was balling out. A lot of you were silent. Move on. Nobody opinion of him is going to change. So what’s really your point?

I assume this was directed at me since I flat out said I didn't care, but my post was actually defending him for his recent string of bad performances.

Other than that, I think I have stayed out of this thread because his story really isn't one that interests me.

Don’t assume anything. My post was not directed towards you.

It’s just annoying as hell to come in this thread and constantly see people who don’t care for KPJ trying to one up those who like him. Just move on.

Nobody opinion will change. I still think KPJ should be with the Cavs regardless. Mishandled and mismanaged.

Ok, just seemed like too much of a coincidence with the chosen words. Just wanted to check-in and clarify.

Also, nobody had posted in this thread for days, so just blame the guy who bumped it :chuckle:

His is a fascinating story with great dramatic tension. The urge to resolution is nearly overwhelming, but there's no likelihood of that arriving for a few more Seasons yet.

In the meantime, he has provided us with incredibly fertile ground for hope, fear, prediction, castigation, and most of all, discussion.

I love it.

Care to back that up? I don’t mean that in a confrontational way, I’m just not sure what you’ve read or seen that would make you assert as fact or even informed opinion that it was a strategic move by him to have all the problems he had to force himself out of a situation he didn’t like.

He told Koby he was a acting like a slaveowner trying to control him and his life?? It was painted like the front office was doing everything for him, but they were keeping him off the floor. They drafted a lottery pick at his position, they moved his locker to be with the scrubs. He surely looked at that like they were not invested in him. I mean they played 0 pg's and had only Dotson at the guard rather than play him. Speaks volumes. I think he acted up after that game so he would be traded. He say 4 guys ahead of him in the rotation that were there last year.

I have always been on the side of Koby got too cute with his punishment. Should have suspended him a set number of games and been done with it. This is like when you cheat and your girlfriend tries to make you jump through 1M hoops that have no set end date, so at some point you realize "I can break up with this person."

I personally like Koby's talent evaluation, but his ego management seems lacking. How many guys have been sent home or not with the team in his tenure? It's too many and I am hoping he can pull a rabbit out of a hat with Drummond, but we might be looking at a buyout.

Don’t have time for a full response but will just say that much of that runs counter to the info that was provided in S34 and that no second year player drafted 30th, off of many teams draft boards due to his personal stuff, and coming off two separate issues with he law just months earlier should have anywhere near the level of entitlement that you’re presenting him as having had from training camp through when the lockeroom blow up occurred.

Come at me I’m the one that bump it, I don’t have a opinion either way on him, he‘s a ex cavs player to me, we win some we lose some , but I totally understand why we got rid of him, I just thought it was funny how he had a few good games and he got a lot of praise and people made it look like we fuck up by trading him.......I just noticed his last few games he having done nothing.......Would have been nice to see him work out here...FYI...nobody is trying to change anybody mind on how anyone feel about another player, that would be that person opinion.......

They are probably rightly keeping things under wraps so we can't really make a determination. We just get a steady diet of "Whoo boy, the things this guy did you wouldn't believe."

Fact is KPJ wasn't seeing the floor and now he is and he will have playing time going forward. That wasn't happening in Cleveland.

When people say, "he couldn't pass the lowest possible bar" what does that mean? He wouldn't stop hanging out with lifelong friends with ties to organized crime? He wouldn't stop hanging out with his family? I literally don't know, there is no transparency.

I do know if you throw food at your boss, you aren't trying very hard to keep your job.

Yes, that is part of the reason things like this are far murkier. Teams really are careful in situations like this.

The Cavs put a framework in place for him to get back on the court. He felt like that framework was too harsh / restrictive......and the people in his orbit were actively hurting his self interests in an effort to just get him out of Cleveland.

The Cavs tried to see if he wanted to be part of the organization, they came to the conclusion he did not, rather then torpedo his career and hang on to him (I can only imagine what the behavior would have been if they just said "you are playing here or nowhere"), they let him move on.

I only take issue with people criticizing the front office here. I hope KPJ gets his life together and has a successful career......but I just don't see how that was going to be here.

100% agree

I just don't understand, why so many people are blaming Koby for his fuck up...When Koby and the organization tried to help him,he didnt want their help...They even had him on the sideline during a game to see,if he would act right and that didn't work.

If,people want following him that's cool but to say the organization made a mistake or blaming on Koby is ridiculous.

Most teams would have dropped KPJ quicker than we did but somehow we team gets criticized for it.

Nobody never questioned his basketball ability but folks really think it's okay to disrespect your boss like he did.

I always side with the players on most issues but KPJ was wrong in this situation.

People should disrespect their bosses more, IMO.

...and this will totally be the back and forth rehash of KPJr for the rest of his career. Silence on both ends when things are going good, or bad. Right now he's dinged up. Was also playing dinged up the last few games. Wall and Dipo also played heavy minutes in the few games.

This is a thread to discuss KPJr, when he throws down 20+ pts and 9+ ast don't be a little you know what and hide, but damn sure comes to make a comment when he plays 30 minutes total in 2 games. FOH

Kevin Porter Jr is a shit pizza....
