2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I find the reaction to him more amusing than anything. It is possible he turns in to a really good player but just to show how people fixate on things like counting stats, especially points scored:

69 FGA, 73 points......that is 1.06 PPFGA or nearly the same as a terribly inefficient player like Cedi at 1.03. But people talk about Kevin, around here, like he is the next Wade or something.

It is just a usage exercise at this point......give any decent NBA player this kind of shot volume and he’ll put up points.

I do admit though, the more interesting production has been assist wise but all his scoring numbers are pretty terrible from an efficiency standpoint.

how much would you like to bet?
KPJr as a rostered player vs Koby as a GM?

You do realize Koby is a bad pick away from being canned and the coach could be canned as well in which Koby is also responsible for

You just said "in the league"

If it's just "in the league" I'll bet on the guy whose job isn't reliant on athleticism :chuckle:

You know as well as I do how often front-office guys and coaches get recycled through the league. Koby is an insider now, he'll probably be around a while.

Oh lol. My rant was more on the side of the GM things. It's just something Cavs and fans will have to deal with.

I've been paying attention to his chucking. It's just the ball handling, bringing the ball up the court(Cavs struggle with this), creating his own shot, finding the open guy while doing so, also plays some defense.

In a fantasy world, I'd love to watch SGA and KPJr in the backcourt right now vs SexLand

I watched again tonight for the first like 10 minutes.

They are 26 loss in a row Cavs bad right now. The game tips off, and the game is essentially over. If they aren't down by 15+ at the half, it's a minor miracle.

It's all usage right now. Hand him the ball and let him do w/e he wants, because the game is lost regardless if its good or bad.

Certainly. We could use his ball handling and creating.....assuming he would have this type of on ball freedom. I was speaking more to what his eventual NBA destiny is. He has talent.....surely but I think too many people are just looking at box scores with him. Analytically, he is just chucking scoring wise. Now, the creation aspect is incredibly promising for him because there aren't many guys who can truly create and score. The scoring, we'll see.....but the creation flashes are there.

It is possible he will be a big "miss" but he made his own with the Cavs. It was clear he didn't want to be here......so I'm not sure why the front office is being criticized. They tried to make it work and Kevin just wasn't willing to buy in. It sucks but it just is what it is. Plenty of things to criticize the FO for but the Porter thing, IMO, was a direct result of a player just not giving a fuck and eventually doing things to force his way out. In those situations, I'm not sure what the team can even do to rectify it. They just had to move on, for better or worse.

He didn't want to be here because of the front office, not in spite of how great they are.

Yeah his ball handling and playmaking are exactly what everyone is upset about. Having that off the bench even if he wasn't scoring efficiently is pretty much what we need.

Can’t help but notice KPJ fan club have been pretty silent the last 2 games of his, he’s barely scratching the stat sheet, on a horrible team.....Let’s keep that same energy fellows.....lol

As somebody who doesn't really care that KPJ is gone, I don't think anybody questions that he has the talent to be in this league.

I'm honestly a little surprised at how poorly he's playing, but ultimately, there's nothing he can do on the court now to prove anybody right (or wrong).

Yea it's been crickets in here.

KPJ is a nice young talent. But nowhere near nice enough to behave the way he has.

Care to back that up? I don’t mean that in a confrontational way, I’m just not sure what you’ve read or seen that would make you assert as fact or even informed opinion that it was a strategic move by him to have all the problems he had to force himself out of a situation he didn’t like.

He is far worse than most know, no one can behave the way he has, not even Lebron and stick in the NBA. He needs help, trading him was not an option, the Cavs might of saved his life. They tried with Delonte, yeah its that type of bad.

I wish him the best, but i am tired of so many acting like they know more than the front office who was around him every day and no one on here has even met the guy.
