Ok, hear me out, and I'm only typing this because I'm 100% serious. What if Collin is the type of person that because of his try-hard nature, he rubs everyone the wrong way, like Rudy, from the movie Rudy. And much in like the movie Rudy(but reversed) all the players have gone into JBB's office and were like, "he goes, or we all go" and they pile their jerseys on coach's desk. So upon hearing about this, Koby is like, damn, I can't lose the whole team, so let's see what we can get for Collin and we trade him for Kevin Porter Jr and Dante Exum and suddenly Kevin Love's calf magically heals and Andre Drummond is now fine in his role coming off of the bench, the Cavs finish out 20-9 to get to .500 and make the playoffs and the team realizes it wasn't about the basketball, but the friends they made along the way and structure returns to the organization under the new leadership of Dan Gilbert's son.
hahaha! cool story bro!

Thanks, I was thinking of doing some Cavs fan fiction. Next thing I was considering writing about was a rather vigorous post game practice session between Collin and Okoro where the two of them just kept pushing each other harder and harder and things finally come to a sweaty head when Isaac really aggressively boxes out Sexton and Collin pops a chub and blah, blah, blah some things happen. Yada, yada, yada feelings can't be ignored. Cedi is cranking down somewhere in secret while watching. It's a work in progress.

i like your idea. you can even expand the timeline to include kyrie and dion. tristan would be good material too, specially with his kardashian love affair, not to mention kyrie is also a weird baby daddy. then for kicks, you can write how anthony parker is constantly owned by candace in their backyard one on one sessions.

When the rebuild is complete, this guy could be the microwave and the 6th MoY frontrunner. But could his ego take it?

Garland looks promising minus Sexton. The two doesn't blend well or even defend well.

Or perhaps Garland is just a 20 year old player who missed almost his entire college season and is just now playing his 100th NBA game and is starting to really come around and get more comfortable not because of the presence or absence of Collin but because of the gained knowledge and comfort that comes only from game experience and repetition aginst the worlds best players.

What undersized backcourt worked in the history of the NBA?

I didn't know if you were looking for recent, but you said history so I'm going to assume not, but Joe Dumars and Isiah Thomas comes to mind

*edit, I got beat to the punch

Tell him, Audrey!

It you define “what works” as winning a championship than the majority of all roster constructions and player pairings domt work.

But I didn’t even address whether they work long term or not. I simply said that it’s a little reductive to automatically claim the cause of Garlands good game was Sexton’s absence.

He controlled the rock more, had a little more usage, there was more ball movement as a team. The offense looked a little more fluid. Maybe the Kings game gave me a horrible taste. Sexton is good, and will be great when he's 27-28, but his greatest asset is cooking as a 6th man IMO.

I guess you guys are hoping Garland is Dame, and Sexton is CJ? Wooo boy, that's one thing about us Cleveland fans, we simply believe. Well, besides a few. Then when it plays out, "we should've drafted so and so".

I'm certainly not high on these 2 leading our franchise as the starting backcourt. They'll get ate alive on defense by premier teams.

The percentage of this little man backcourt working are slim to none. Thomas and Dumars are legends. Lowry and Vanfleet was backed by a future HoF in Kawhi with Spicy P and Ibaka. One helluva defensive tandem backed by luck.

I feel like our two are more like Earl Boykins and Spud Webb on defense.
