Traded: Javale McGee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Relax when we gave away a productive big man who isn’t even making that much money to hurt the cap for a guy who hasn’t done squat in this league????? And for two “protected” second round picks! If you can tell or show me the logic in that I’ll calm down.

Hartenstein is a 22 yr old who "could" be the bruiser compliment to Allen. I am in the process of learning about him but he's got some upside and the Cavs were interested in him this offseason before he signed with Denver.

From the Denver game, I remember him being physical and having a scrappy presence about him. I'll start with that and let's see what we've got (shrugs)

The other part of this that makes me happy is McGee was traded early today, so that takes one more big man off the trade table. (looks over at Drummond)

This was my thinking too... trading McGee sooner makes a trade for Drummond later a little easier. Now some more contract $$ is freed up in which we could potentially take in some more money than originally expected

2021 Salary

Hartenstein: $1,445,697
McGee: $4,200,000

The Cavs are still above the tax line, I'm guessing any additional moves will be made with that in mind.

Jordan Bell and McKinnie ultimately ends up being three 2nd rounders and a young center in Hartenstein. That's not too bad in my book.

Don't tell Ohioplayer00 this. He's standing on top of a bridge as we speak.

What were you expecting to get for a 33 year old backup center on a one year deal? I feel like we got about what we should've expected for Javale and who knows maybe Hartenstein turns out to be a halfway decent player.

The scary part is -- anybody complaining about our haul here for McGee is going to have a straight mental breakdown when they see what we get for Drummond (which will likely be a buyout)

Might want to have a few straight jackets on hand for the absolute meltdowns we see in a few hours.
I don’t expect anything good for Drummond due to his contract and attitude. Anything will be a win!
I will be pissed if we buy him out though. There is no advantage to buying him out. Does nothing for this roster, rewards his bad attitude and helps out contenders who will pick him up off the scrap heap! If we can’t get assets for just hold onto him and let him walk in the off-season

Nothing but love for Javale. He brought professionalism and embraced being a veteran leader for his time here.

The man did his job here for us, and he deserves to compete for a chip.
Yes. I will miss JaVale. His short time here produced a surprising number of memories. Could always use a player like him on the team.

Not sure you understand value and how the NBA works. Did you expect a 1st round pick for an expiring 30 something backup center? An actual starter?

Its actually a nice haul. Hartensein has already outplayed his late 2nd round status, is only 22 and can shoot 20 foot jumpers. We also got 2 2nd round picks to throw into future trades.

We actually got more for McGee than i thought we would. Very happy with the trade, and if you are not, you need a reality check.

I am not expecting anything for Drummond. He is a net negative, we as cavs fans know it, thus every gm knows it.

What sucks is Drummond could be a very, very good player, but he refuses to play within himself.

Yeah I thought maybe 2 2nds or a youngish player, but I didn't expect both. With the 2nd they got to take on McGee and the leadership the guys said he helped them with, we pretty much got max value from McGee.

He will be good for Denver. They need a change of pace Center like him
