Look, I haven't seen Cedi in a few, and only have fond memories of his locks bouncing as he galloped. Are you telling me those are gone?
he didnt get a fade, but he no longer looks like he is auditioning for a slow motion vidale sassoon add as he lazily retreats down the floor after clanking a 3 pointer off the side of the rim.

He seems like a hard-working guy, good teammate, has some size and gets up and down the court. They probably thought they could coach him up and make him a useful player, but he's definitely regressed this year and now Okoro is coming on and Prince is clearly a better player and he's signed through next season. Not to mention Windler who they invested a first round pick in. Then there's a first round pick coming up in a few months which will probably be another wing.

Maybe we should try to develop him as a point forward. Just ask him to run the second unit and force him to tighten up his handles. If we are going to tank, we might as well give the opportunity to guys like Cedi to grow.
Or cut him.

Does he watch tape? I love the guy, but he has not improved his decision-making and he holds the ball too long. I agree, I think his talent to develop was ball handling and passing.

Because of all the injuries he was forced into a role he's not suited for this season. Maybe he'll never become really useful, but I still think he has some skills that could be developed. He's pretty good as a catch and shoot 3 point guy as long as his feet are fully set and he doesn't rush it. He's very clever at back cutting to the basket, but we've had neither spacing nor passers to utilize that skill from any of our guys. His assist% is decent at 16.3 but could be better in a more structured offense and his turnover% in below 10 (9.5), which is one of the lowest on the team.

This guy is going through one of the worst stretches of basketball I have ever seen for an NBA player. I'm not sure how to quantify it, but based on the eye test he is playing at rec league replacement player level. The team has no confidence in him and he has no confidence in himself.

I posted this in last night's game thread...

Cedi had four turnovers in 29 minutes which is too many, but he was playing point guard much of the time so he was out of position. His shooting was encouraging as he was 7-for-9 on 2-pointers and 0-for-2 on 3's. He needs to stop taking 3-point shots altogether. I think he's made 2 of his last 21.

Cedi dished out seven assists in 29 minutes. Garland is averaging 5.9 in 32 minutes. The one area of Cedi's game that has impressed me this year is his passing. He sees the floor well and a 6'8" he can get his passes off without being deflected.

If he would take the time to dramatically improve his dribbling, especially with the left hand, I could see him as a point guard along the lines of 6'11" Ben Simmons, who averages 15 points and 7.1 assists in 33 minutes. Simmons is shooting 54.5% from the field and has only attempted nine 3's this year.

Between Okoro, Prince, Windler, and whoever we draft this year I don't think Cedi has any future here as a small forward. If I were him I'd work on my dribbling every day this off-season and try to reinvent myself as a guard who mostly distributes and drives to the rim while taking advantage of his size against smaller guards.

His future is likely on another team, but unless he starts playing and showing some value he's staying put. I just don't see him as a potential buy-out candidate.

He seems to have his best performances this year while playing point guard. It's a small sample size but I think certain guys just play better when they are forced to play the point and actively taken on a pass first mentality.

The role of backup PG or point forward could really suit Cedi for this roster. If they want to split up Sexton and Garland for periods of the game, maybe Cedi can grow into that player that is the sub for Garland so Sexton can stay off the ball and Cedi plays the point.

What they were doing for most of the year was exactly the opposite. They would sub in Osman for Sexton midway through the first quarter which left Cedi playing 2-guard, a position he's really not suited for. I like your idea much better.
