2021 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think Clowney changes our first round pick at all.

We take the best player available. If it's an edge guy, awesome. We don't have anyone signed long-term besides Myles. If it's a corner or something else, awesome. They can compete with the depth that's already there.

I think it would be insane if we cut Sheldon Richardson. The Clowney contract should just be fit under the cap with some mild restructuring.

This is my feeling, too. I love the Clowney signing but he’s a stop gap. If he goes out and has a 10+ sack year or something like that, I don’t know how the Browns can come up with the money to keep him with all the other guys that need re-signed next year.

Clowney gives the Browns the ability to develop a DE for a year without putting all the pressure on him to perform right away. If the best player at 26 is an edge we’ll draft him. If not, I can guarantee we’ll take at least one at some point on day 2.

I like Tylan Wallace quite a bit for the value I think he could provide in this system.

Day 2 selection seems about right, if the Browns grabbed him with one of their third rounders I think it would be a tremendous fit.

In that scenario (where Clowney has a monster year), depending on what the Browns do in free agency next year, they might get a comp pick for him, right? Not sure how that works for players on one year deals, but it could be something to consider.

I'm seeing a lot of folk on Twitter jumping all over cornerbacks to the Browns in round one, but don't sleep on the depth of the position in this draft. I count roughly 12-14 corners who have the talent to start day one. Maybe they can't be a shutdown corner as a rookie, but good enough to start opposite Ward.

I feel the same way about outside corners as I feel about receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft class: don't be that guy who only knows the Dan Jeremiah top 50 list and thinks the draft ends there.

I know Berry typically isn’t the “trade up” guy, but at this point it wouldn’t shock me to see the Browns move up to the early 20’s/late teens to take Barmore if he’s still around. Putting an interior pass rusher like him next to Clowney and Garrett would just wreak havoc.

Agreed entirely.

Really strong draft class in terms of depth. While it lacks non-QB star talent on paper, it more than makes up for it with ridiculous depth and multiple positions.

Sewell, Chase and Pitts are three of the highest rated positions players in recent memory.

I can't recall the last tackle rated higher than Sewell, and Pitts might be the best TE prospect of all time.

I can't remember specifics but wasn't Kellen Winslow Jr. or Vernon Davis rated just as high or higher?

Not trying to prove you wrong or anything. Just trying to really remember the last TE rated as one of the best players in the draft.

I'm ambivalent on Barmore myself, if he is there at #26 I would welcome the pick. I don't know if I'm into trading up for him. He really came on late in his final season, but was called a disappointment most of his time in Tuscaloosa.

I am more interested in a top shelf linebacker in the first now. Anthony Walker was respected as a leader and critical to raising up the entire linebacker room in Indianapolis, while being limited on the field.

I veered away from Wallace in the RCF Mock draft in the 3rd round due to his health status. I'm sure NFL FO's have clearer data available. If he's cleared, he could go from 50 to 80 or better come draftday.

I’m all for making a move for JOK. Doesn’t seem like something AB would typically do, but an LB like that seems to be the main missing piece at this point.

I wasn't into this for Winslow, but Pitts is certainly rated higher than Vernon Davis was. Davis was a specimen, but was never the player Pitts already is.

Also, I was the guy who brought up Vernon Davis the last time this was asked ;)

You’re also, including the QBs, looking at likely the top 7.

Take the top 7 away, and no one on paper is screaming star player. Sorry to move the goal posts, need to clarify what I meant.

But there is so much starter level depth that I really think value in the top three rounds is incredible. If the Browns make four picks, there’s a very real chance that four picks play a considerable role despite our talent level.

So I know everyone hates trade-downs, but if there was ever a year to move back and collect several more picks in rounds 2-4.....

We're going to have some serious money coming due over the next couple years, and possibly getting at least starter-quality prospects at several positions might be required. This seems to be a good draft to do it.

I wouldn’t mind making this trade with Philly depending on what the board looked like at 26:

26 & 110 (4th) for 37 & 70 (3rd)

Would leave the Browns with 37, 59, 70, 89, 91 in the first three rounds. Works based on trade value charts.
