2021 Series #10 | Indians @ Royals | May 3-6, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's definitely crossed my mind too, but I'm fairly certain there was a pretty good reliever once upon a time who also used that as his song out of the bullpen...

You cant repeat walk up music?

Also you guys are responding to the wrong thing, i really want to know where he came from. Sandlin has pretty dominating stuff for a side arm guy. Great placement, that weird rise movement and he ball dances a bit it looks like, hard to pick up for a hitter.

I am not the pitching expert here, someone correct me, and tell me, did we draft him?

2nd round out at southern miss - 2018

Thanks, so it was a quick rise through the minors. Was he drafted to be a relief pitcher? Potential closer stuff but we already have 2 people who could close already so he becomes a set up man and a luxury?

There is more to fielding than errors...and yes, getting inconsistent playing time contributes to the errors.

Gimenez is rating out as a borderline top 10 defensive SS right now, he's actually just a shade behind Frankie in most defensive metrics. He just isn't being given a chance to break out of anything because as soon as he gets some ABs or defensive reps, here comes a lefty and he's benched for a huge net negative defensively at SS in Rosario whose offensive production is not justifying the platoon.

Arias has never played above High A ball in his pro career before this season. He is not ready.

Miller is not a positive defensive SS at the MLB level. The Indians already have at least 1 guy playing out of position in CF on their roster that is causing them some problems, they don't need to add a 2nd up the middle defender who will be a negative defensively.

The Gimenez problem is solved the same way the Naylor problem is being solved. Play him every day.
I don't disagree with what you say here Bimbo, but what do you do with Amed? What do you do with Chang who is relegated to a 1B platoon and he isn't even a 1B. These aren't complaints, moreso curiosities. This team could be a contender this season, but there are some improvements that need to be made defensively along with a couple of bats that need to wake up yet. I happen to also think we are a little short on SP, but there may be an internal answer to that.

What I do certainly agree with is that the towel should not be thrown in on Gimenez. He's going to be a very nice player IMO, I just don't want his spirit crushed with failure due to the lack of repetitions. There is also no rush to get Arias up here either. I'd rather see Gimenez increase his value because he will not hold off Arias for long IMO, and a good, young, affordable SS is worth his weight in gold.

I also agree that Miller is not an ideal SS. However, I haven't looked at his defensive metrics for all the games he's played there while in the minors. Ultimately, I don't see Miller on the roster this season unless there is an injury to Hernandez or he is traded. Even then, we may see Rosario take over 2B duties opening up more consistent playing time at SS for Gimenez. All nothing short of guesses on my part.

I hope none of this comes across as negative because I certainly don't intend it to be. This team is coming along nicely and just swept a pretty good KC team thanks to their BP woes. This team has me excited to see what happens going forward.

i'm not the minor league expert, but iirc, in either 18 or 19 he advanced 3 or 4 levels up to akron - then covid happened and we forgot about everyone not on the big league roster

He went straight to the bullpen and he has been used as a multi inning relief but never really as a legit starter. They have him as a reliever who can pitch more than one inning but that's it, it won't be anything more.

2nd round out at southern miss - 2018
Not only that, he had been a pure reliever until his senior yr at Southern Miss when he started for 15 games.
His stats that yr as a starter: 10-0 record 1.06 ERA Whip of 0.713 2 HR allowed walking 18, striking out 144 in 102.1 IP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
After getting drafted in June 2018, he signed & went to Arizona summer League (3 gms) then Lake County for 10 games, Lynchburg 7 games and finally Akron for 5 games So 4 pro levels in roughly 11 weeks (6-18-18 to 9-2-18) after a full college season as a starter (a total of 126.1 IP for 2018 college & pro).

He pitched Akron & Columbus in 2019 before getting hurt & getting shutdown starting July 2019.

IIRC he was pitching & a doing rehab at the alt site last summer but was never called up to the show. He got the call this year.

Again, this is solved pretty simply.

Send Chang down. Play Naylor at 1B vs lefties. Bring up a legit LHH CFer.

Chang needs ABs. Let him get them in Columbus. He’s not producing in an inconsistent platoon role.

Play Amed Rosario, Luplow, and Ramirez in the OF vs LHP.

Use Rosario as your utility man vs RHP to give people days off.

Bring up a legit CF, we don’t have one on the roster.

Cleans up the roster inefficiencies too.

@BimboColesHair

I have a question since you have a bit more of info then I do, What does the organization think of Amed Rosario? Do you think he is a short term guy or something towards the future?

I just don't get the point of keeping a guy like Amed if he isn't an everyday player. His defensive numbers don't fit into an utility role. What do you think we would get for him if we traded him?

I can get on board here, with one difference.

If we start having Naylor playing 1st against lefties, I rather have Bradley brought up to take Bauers spot.

Keep Bauers and send Chang down, or move on from Bauers and keep Chang in an even more reduced role..

Sandlin would probably struggle the 3rd time through the order as a starter, but in short bursts he may end up being the best sidearmer in the majors!

I'm all for Sandlin remaining in the pen. But using him 2 or even 3 innings at a clip should be part of the package., especially when the back end big guns are down. Was loving it today when Tito sent him back out.

Now please recall Nelsen ASAP.

Harold is a legit CF!
