2021 Series #10 | Indians @ Royals | May 3-6, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Again, this is solved pretty simply.

Send Chang down. Play Naylor at 1B vs lefties. Bring up a legit LHH CFer.

Chang needs ABs. Let him get them in Columbus. He’s not producing in an inconsistent platoon role.

Play Amed Rosario, Luplow, and Ramirez in the OF vs LHP.

Use Rosario as your utility man vs RHP to give people days off.

Bring up a legit CF, we don’t have one on the roster.

Cleans up the roster inefficiencies too.
@BimboColesHair

If Chang heads to AAA to get consistent AB, where is he playing to get that time??

Arias is at SS
Miller is at 2B
Nolan Jones is at 3B
Bobby Bradley is at 1B

DH has rotated so far in order for Ernie Clement to get time & to remain a viable utility option in CLE (if needed)
Since Gamel was DFA'd b4 gm 2 he hasn't played & Harold Ramirez in currently in CLE leaving DJ/ Oscar Mercado/ Bradley Zimmer to get the OF playing time.

Who is the legit LHH CFer? I'm pretty satisfied with HRam at this point in time. I'd like to see him stay in CF. As long as he throws to the cut off man things should normally work in our favor. He does complicate the roster a bit if you want to keep Bauers around because I think Naylor is our best 1B option at this time and moving him there keeps Luplow and HRam in the lineup which in turn improves the offensive output from 1B and CF.

If Chang is sent down then who spells JRam when he needs a day off? I know Gimenez has played a few games there in the past, but I'd prefer he focus on SS. Amed has the arm for it, but has he ever played there? If he's capable then I'd make him my utility guy/pinch runner/late inning defensive replacement.

So what would become of Bauers? I don't really know TBH, and I'm not overly concerned. Keep him as a backup 1B who could get a significant amount of AB when Naylor relieves Luplow and Eddie.

So, depending on what they did with Bauers there would be either 24 or 25 guys on the 26 man roster. There's already 8 guys in the BP so another one wouldn't be needed. You could call up Mercado and use him as the 4th OFer/defensive replacement.

I think I heard that Tito mentioned that this roster is difficult to piece together. If he did mention that then I would absolutely agree.

I'm all for Sandlin remaining in the pen. But using him 2 or even 3 innings at a clip should be part of the package., especially when the back end big guns are down. Was loving it today when Tito sent him back out.

Now please recall Nelsen ASAP.
Who would Nelson replace? There are already 8 guys in the BP.

Unless there is a pitcher injury, Kyle is back in the minors for 10 days (sent out 5/3/21).

I would prefer to have Nelson back up in the pen (he would be the only LHP in the bullpen counting Sam Hentges as part of the rotation).
I wonder if CLE is rethinking Trevor Stephan or willing to send Phil Maton to the minors.

I think Quantrill is the most likely to get shipped out if/once they recall Nelson. Especially if they still have designs on him being a starter.

He's pitched 16 innings with a 2.25 ERA. He can also go multiple innings and with Hentges and McKenzie limited on the amount of innings they can pitch Cal doesn't seem like the logical choice, but I could be way off here.

I don't think they'll let Stephan go either. That arm is just too good and the cost is cheap.

In the end, if Nelson returns without anyone being injured I think it will be at Hentges' expense. Quantrill will replace him in the rotation and Nelson goes to the BP. Best guess on my part.

We honestly dont really know who will end up where, but we do need someone to step into that 5th spot in the rotation. I don't think Nelson will be up for a minute until pitchers have been stretched out some (Hentges and the minor league guys).

Well the original tangent was adding a lefty to the pen with Hentges moving into a starting role. Stephan, Sandlin could go multiple innings if and when needed. It really comes down to whether or not the FO wants to keep Quantrill in a starter type role or not. Personally I like him out of the pen, but others seem to think his future is still as a SP.

I wonder what the white Sox’s announcer think about this team now, we were a afterthought to them at the beginnings of the year.......This Team/Organization just don’t fear this division........

Wasn't Sandlin terrific? Hides the ball well and it just explodes from the side with killer velocity and movement.

I said it yesterday. I would send Stephan back to the Yankees. He might turn into a good reliever some day. But imo, there are better options than him.

Sandlin is yet another weapon in Tito's arsenal for sure. This bullpen has to be the best that I've seen in my lifetime. And I'm old as fuck. I can remember when immortal Joe took over catching for John Romano and when in his major league debut, Louie Tiant shutout the powerful Yankees.

In Sandlin's 3 appearances, he sure hasn't looked like a rookie. Just cold blooded and nasty.

He's only pitched once in the last 13 days and his ERA is 5.91. I think Tito is afraid to use him unless the game has been decided one way or another.

I like Quantril a lot coming out of the pen too. A guy who s very capable of giving you multiple innings if needed. Triston's performance today was really uplifting. Once he figures out control issues, he's gonna be really good.

As for the 5th starter, I still think Scott Moss will be the answer. Time will tell.
