2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’ve said this many, many, times. This isn’t the 70’s anymore - this wine and gold colorway we’ve been donning for the last 11 years is ridiculously ugly.

We’ve been tormented with ugly uniforms since 2010. It’s time to completely abandoned the “historic” and stupid nostalgic colors and go a different route, maybe even go back to to blue and orange.

it doesn’t matter what colors we use, I’m just sick of the McDonald’s colorways.

This is such a trash take, they’re so good when executed correctly.... unfortunately they haven’t been executed correctly in a fucking WHILE.

These are probably just the NBA Alts that they change up each year, not the regular jerseys.
Exactly these are just the Alternates. The Lakers are not wearing that purple color as their primary.
With that said I'm fine with this jersey. Truth be told the play on the court is so much important than the uniform.

The jersey in the first picture is a perfect balance of the old school wine/gold era (colors), and the prime 80s/90s era (logo). The shades of the colors work, the design works. It's got some classic elements, but still seems fresh.

IMO, that's what should be our main jerseys going forward.

Now personally, I'd also love the regulars to be the blue/orange 80s/90s throwbacks, because I grew up with that era. But blue/orange and basketball? That's always Knicks #1.

The blue and orange is so much easier on the eyes. Love it. Don't care that they are knicks colors

So I stayed up late to watch most of Portland- Denver. Portland was home. Good game, but I never felt Denver would lose. Denver now up 2-1. (Jokic is a unicorn).
Big picture - Portland is on a treadmill to nowhere. A nice team that needs significant pieces to get to the next level.
I proposed a trade earlier of Sexton and Love for CJ McCollum. Throw in a sweetener if you want.
McCollum and whoever is the first round pick can move us forward.
Sexton and a motivated Love can change the Blazers for the better.

Everybody will now say Portland would never do that. But if they don't do something, the only thing different next season is Dame will be another year older.

Portland is one of the reasons I don't give Sexton the MAX. He isnt as good as CJ or Dame, and is harder to build around (size and skill limitations).

Maybe the issue with Portland isn’t Dame and CJ. Theyve had those two since 2013. Maybe they’ve failed to put the right type of wings around them.
Maybe they failed to to trade one of them at the right time, after they were both clearly established as stars. Maybe it’s just bad luck. Maybe as good of a coach as Stotts is, not making a coaching change in 9 seasons was the wrong call.

None of that means the Cavs are better off letting Sexton walk after 4-5 years or trading him for a bad return.

The Blazers problem is that they don't have a consistent third scorer on that team. They got a bunch of guys that plays defense but no offense.

Also the Blazer had players on two different timelines and the misfortune that it just missed aligning. They had Lamarcus Aldridge and Batum in Mccollum's rookie and second year. Both of them decide to leave and McCollum breaks out in his 3rd season to be that 20 point scorer.

They never really got bad enough to draft that 3rd scorer and you can only have so much good luck with mid 1st round picks.

I'm not sure if they did the right move this year by giving up Gary Trent Jr for Norman Powell.

That's why it makes no sense to break Sexton and Garland up.You can develop Okoro into a 4th scorer and get a third scorer and plays defense in this draft like a Kuminga.

No matter, what the Cavs do, this team needs a revamp of the bench. We get outscored by 20,30 and 40 pts a night from the bench because the bench isn't good at all.

Sexton and Garland can't be carrying the team while the bench just shit the bed on most nights.

The only players that worth a dayum on the bench are Prince,Stevens,Hartenstein,Windler and Thomas....imo

I don't agree with that who was the back up point guard on the 2nd unit whenever the line up was just ty lued?
The young players like Kabengele and Wade are worth retaining more than Prince or Brodrick Thomas.
I think Cedi although on a team friendly contract is probably the one player they think about trading for a pick.
His influence was hot and cold all season and really threw off some of the players development.

Soooo...you *want* guys to "force contested three point shots or take low percentage shots," and are using that as your metric on if a player is worth keeping, or not???

Yeah, I think I'll go back to skipping your posts.
Skip whatever you want! That’s not what I said! I said that’s what the league has evolved into......a lot of forced contested three ball shots and people have accepted it as “Today’s NBA”. I can’t stand all of the three point shots but everybody has bought into the theory of “analytics”

Nobody on the bench couldnt score...Whenever,Sexton tries to give them the ball they either miss their shot or they give the ball right back to him because he was the only reliable scorer.

Dellvadova isn't the answer because he can't shoot to save his life. Teams were leaving him and Nance open because they knew they will most most of their shots.

This team needs a veteran point guard that can shoot and score. You can't have a point guard that can't shoot but distribute the ball well and vice versa.

As,for Thomas,I think he can become the backup point guard but needs experience....imo

I forgot about Wade,I wish JB play him and Stevens more often...I want to see more of Kabengele though.
