2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t want teams to not shoot 3P shots. I want more offensive diversity.

I want the 3P shot to be mostly for exceptional distance shooters. I want a return to some better post play and do believe that moving the line back 1-2 feet would reduce the number of PF/C taking 2-4 3P attempts per game.

Moving the line back would absolutely change the dynamic of who shoots threes, how many they shoot, how the 3P needs to be defended, the efficiency of mass quantity 3P shots vs other approaches to offense, etc.
Do big men tend to take shorter 3s?

Especially if you eliminate the corner 3.

Why is the corner 3 so high-percentage? Just because it is shorter?

Shorter distance. Easiest spot to pass to off of drives too.

Also I do believe sight lines matter. Just seeing the rim and not the backboard helps imo.

I don’t have access to the data that would show that but I believe that yes, the majority of 3P shots by PF and C(as well as the less confident wing 3P shooters) are spot up three just inches to a foot behind the 3P line. I do believe that moving it back by 1-2 feet would cause difficulties for the majority of those guys, and would lead to less three point shots being taken by the non lethal distance shooters. Not eliminate it, but reduce it and change the dynamic/diversify how some offenses are run

Killing Carlisle too. Gave him 2 minutes to not suck and he didn't so now he's playing a guy who hasn't played the whole series.

Josh Richardson is just not good. Seth Curry would have been huge for them. Don't know what they were thinking with this trade. Seth Curry would have been huge for their bench.

I don’t like the Mavs employing a 2-3 zone agains the Clippers. They have too many talented shooters to try a scheme like that. But Boban is so slow defensively that it limits what schemes the Mavs can run.

But doesn’t looking straight at the backboard help? And doesn’t being lined up with the heel of the rim help?

This game is... weird reffing wise. Gonna leave it at that. Mavs are getting screwed.

just this one instance, if you wanna call a foul, it's an offensive foul on Batum. Give me a break.

They miscalculated the moves they needed to make to become "tougher" and add better defenders, which was a narrative going around at the end of last year. Richardson still had the tough 3&D wing rep from his time in the Heat system but he clearly does not have it this year and having Curry's range and growing confidence would be huge right now for the Mavs

Credit to Lue for bumping Mann ahead of franchise favorite Beverley and mistake big extension guy Kennard in this series. Also for resisting any temptation at all to play Cousins.
